System piping Place the boiler in a selected location (as near chimney as possible). Your boiler is shipped assembled. You need only to install a 3 4" relief valve drain line. Run a pipe from the relief valve outlet to an open drain, tub or sink, or other suitable drainage point not subject to freezing. Failure to do so may cause water damage or injury should the relief valve open. Pipe must be same size as outlet and open end must not be threaded. Connect supply and return lines to boiler. The connections may require certain additional fittings and parts as shown on Fig. 3. If you are replacing an old boiler with thls new one, possibly all you will need to do is to connect the existing piping to your boiler. If you are installing an entire new heating system, first Install all of your radiation units (panels, radiators, or cabinets) and the supply and return mains — then make the connection to the boiler. When connecting the cold water sup- ply to the water valve, make sure that a clean water supply is available. When the water supply is from a well or a pump, a sand strainer should be in- stalled at the pump. When boiler Is used In connection with refrigeration systems, it shall be in- stalled so that the chilled water is piped in parallel with the heating boiler with appropriate valves to prevent the chilled water from entering the heating system boiler (Fig. 4). The boiler piping system of a hot water heating boiler connected to heating coils located in air handling units where they may be exposed to refrigerated air circulation must be equipped with flow control valves or other automatic means to prevent gravity circulation of the boiler water during the cooling cycle. NOTE: A hot water boiler installed above radiation level must be provided with a low water cutoff device at the time of boiler installation. It is recommended that the boiler be installed with gate valves on the supp• ly and return lines so that it may be removed for service without draining Heating Circuits (any number as read.) The gate valve on the supply pipe must not be located between the boiler and the relief valve or expansion tank. The following simple steps outline the procedure for modifying the GA100 boiler for installation with multiple cir- culators. 1. Remove the circulator supplied with the boiler by removing the bolts from the upper and lower circulator flanges. 2. Install pipe with flanges as shown in Fig. 21. 3. Using the bolts and washers removed in step #1 bolt the pipe section into the return line in place of the circulator. 4. Add a 1 /" tee on a cross to the return line at the rear of the boiler and install the number of circulators required. 5.
