Street regarding installation of an underground storage tank for gasoline. There was apparently a misunderstanding between Tri - State and the tank installer, since neither obtained a permit for installation. These permits have been issued in the past as building permits by the Building Department, with the Fire Depart- ment witnessing pressure tests and final installation. I suggest that this practice continue, as it has proven effective. I obtained the information on the tank and advised Tri -State that it would be o.k. to . cover it. They will be in the Building Depart - ment Tuesday, February 19 for a permit. The following regulations are required prior to approval: 1. The tank shall be covered with not less than 1$ inches of well - tamped earth, then by not less than 6 inches of reinforced concrete. An emergency electrical shut -off shall be located between 15 and 75 feet from the dispenser. The switch shall be conspicuously labled. This office is to witness all tests. All electrical work shall be per the National Electric Code, Class 1, Division 1. The vent pipe shall terminate 2 feet above the roof.
