CALL TO ORDER Mayor Rants called the Regular Meeting to order and led the
audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

LAUTERBACH, Council Analyst.
Mayor Rants requested Council's confirmation of his appointment
of Steven Lancaster to the position of Director of the Department
of Community Development (DCD). Rants outlined the process
used to determine the final candidates for the position. Council
followed with questions of Lancaster.
MOVED BY HERNANDEZ, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, TO
ACCEPT THE MAYOR'S APPOINTMENT OF STEVEN
LANCASTER AS THE NEW DCD DIRECTOR.*
Mayor Rants affirmed for Council that the motion would also
include approval of the proposed starting salary.

TO NOMINATE JOYCE CRAFT FOR THE POSITION OF
COUNCIL PRESIDENT FOR 1995.*
MOVED BY DUFFIE, SECONDED BY ROBERTSON, TO
CLOSE THE NOMINATIONS WITH ONE NAME GIVEN.
MOTION CARRIED.
*MOTION CARRIED. COUNCILMEMBER CRAFT ELECTED
1995 COUNCIL PRESIDENT.
Councilmember Mullet thanked everyone for their support during
his tenure as 1994 Council President.
REPORTS Mayor Rants announced that the Suburban Cities Regional Water
Mayor Caucus Committee is requesting a representative from Tukwila to
attend monthly meetings. Councilmember Mullet volunteered to
attend on a regular basis.
Councilmember Hernandez reported that over the holidays she
attended an elected officials meeting to review applications for the
Community Service Network. Hernandez said she was
instrumental in nominating an applicant from Tukwila who has
personal knowledge and experience dealing with the social service
agency.
Council determined they would hold their annual retreat out of
town this year. No date was announced.
Councilmember Robertson reported that an acquaintance told him
of a State Dept. of Corrections work crew who is looking for
projects to do. It was suggested the City consider have them
construct some canoe ramps on the river.
Councilmember Ekberg reported the Duwamish and Foster
Community Clubs held a joint meeting at the end of 1994. Ekberg
said the meeting was a nice celebration of bonding between the
communities.
