Council Chambers M I N U T E S Mayor Todd led the Pledge of Allegiance and called the Special Meeting to order. STERLING, TRAYNOR, DAVIS, HARRIS, JOHANSON. MOVED BY JOHANSON, SECONDED BY STERLING, TO EXCUSE COUNCILMAN GARDNER AND COUNCILMAN SAUL.* Councilman Gardner arrived at 7:02 P.M. *CARRIED. Mayor Todd vacated the chair and turned the gavel over to Council President Traynor. Council President Traynor intro- duced Judge Frank Payne, Municipal Court Judge, to administer the oaths of office. Judge Payne administered the oath of office to Mayor -elect Edgar D. Bauch. Councilman Saul arrived at 7 :05 P.M. /5 Judge Payne administered the oath of office to Council -elect George Hill. Judge Payne administered the oath of office to Council -elect Phyllis Pesicka. Judge Payne administered the oath of office to Council -elect Gary Van Dusen. Judge Payne administered the oath of office to Council -elect Dwayne Traynor. Mayor Bauch presented the Mayor's gavel to Frank Todd. Councilman Gardner presented Mayor Bauch with a hand -made gavel and read a brief newspaper article regarding the craftsman. Mayor Bauch announced refreshments would be served following the meeting. He stated he hoped the next four years in the City of Tukwila turn out to be what the people want it to be. The way to make that happen is to provide input to the people seated at this table so that they can perceive what the citizens want. It has been said that the type of government you have is what you want and he hopes that this is what you will get and only by hard work from those you elected to represent you will make that happen. Councilman Hill stated he hopes that for the next two years we can forget about politics and have everyone work for the single goal of the betterment of Tukwila. He agreed that what the City gets as its government depends upon its citizens. Councilman Van Dusen agreed. Councilwoman Pesicka stated she hoped the Council will do a good job for the citizens. She has always felt the best government is the least government and she hoped to keep things simple at the Council level. ADJOURNMENT MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY PESICKA, THAT THE SPECIAL 7 :20 P.M. MEETING ADJOURN.* Mayor Bauch thanked the out -going Council Members for their long hours of service for the City.
