Building Offical
Dear Ms. Cronk:
We respectfully submit the following information for your
consideration:
a) Two sets of floor plans, fully dimensioned showing
existing walls, openings, plumbing, electrical and
sprinkler system.
Proposed additions of walls, electrical and plumbing
are shown with a legend. 2" x 4" wall construction
is shown on a seperate attached sheet.
c) Name, address and description of business is:
Architectural Signing Washington, Inc., 12600 Inter-
urban Ave. So., Building "A" of Tukwila Commerce Park.
We are a licensed franchise of ASI Sign Systems, Inc.,
Marina Del Rey, CA.
Manufacturing consists of cutting, routing, silk -
screening, and spray painting .080 thick matte acrylic
sheets and 3/4" veneer plywood. About 10 sheets of
3/4 "- 4'x 8' plywood and 20 sheets of 3'x 5' acrylic
would be the maximum anticipated stock at any given
time. In addition, small quantities of lacquer (approx-
imately 20 quarts) and silkscreening ink are required
in our process.
d) The drawings showing machinery, booth and table location
in the "shop" are approximate; all installations would
be in strict accordance to codes and safety requirements.
Machines used are:
1) A small pinch roller used for laminating acrylic.
City of Tukwila
December 29, 1983
2) Table saw for cutting acrylic and plywood.
3) Drill press for drilling holes in plywood and acrylic.
4) Router for shaping edges of materials.
5) Spray booth for spray painting lacquer on acrylic
and plywood.
Note:. All above operations are low volume; generally
manufacturing small quantities of 6 "x 6" type tenant
signs.
Handicap access is assured with wide open spaces and all
door openings a minimum of 36 "- handrails in restrooms
provided per code requirements. Front entrance area has
a ramp from the parking lot to the front door; in short,
there are no architectural barriers.
The proposed "remodel" is in Building "A" of the Tukwila
Commerce Center at the above address. The adjacent
600
business is to the rear, A & G Ceramic Supplies,
Interurban Ave. So.- a wholesale warehouse operation with
one or two persons there during business hours.
The proposed occupancy for office area in Architectural Signing
Washington, Inc. would be a maximum of nine, the shop operation
would consist of two or three persons at the most. No "retail"
sales are done from this facility.
Note: The information about the shop area is not greatly
detailed at this time because we are trying to show intent of
use so we can obtain a occupancy permit for the office area.

Dear Mr. Carter:
RE: Proposed Industrial Waste Discharge at
12600 Interurban Avenue South
Tukwila, Washington 98188
fil 1,
JAN 6 1984
CITY O0 TUKWILA
PLANNING DEPT.
From our December 27, 1983, telephone conversation it is my understanding
that Architectural Signing intends to move its photoprocessing, silk
screening and painting operations to 12600.Interurban Avenue. Metro's
requirements for discharge to the sanitary sewer are listed in Resolution
3374 (enclosed). Specific requirements for the proposed waste discharge
at your Tukwila operations are listed below:
1. A sample site or "T" must be installed downstream from each
discharge or the combined discharge prior to any mixing with
domestic waste.
2. Discharge from the photoprocessing operations must contain less
than 1 mg /1 silver. Most silver results from the discharge of
photo fix and fix rinse solutions. In most cases, installation
of steel wool or electrolytic silver recovery equipment for fix
discharges will produce a waste with less than 1.0 mg /1 silver.
3. No solvent may be discharged to the sanitary sewer from the silk
screening operations. Section 3.01 of Resolution 3374 specifically
prohibits discharge of flammable or explosive materials and
substances which produce noxious gases or toxic vapor. All solvents
and flammable'liquids must be stored in a manner which will prevent
spills from entering the sanitary sewer system (i.e., all storage
must be in a no- outlet area).
4. If Architectural Signing uses a water curtain in its spray paint
booth, the curtain water shall not be discharged to the sanitary
sewer without the permission of the Metro Industrial Waste Section.
Prior to discharge, Architectural Signing will be required to
have the water curtain tested for heavy metals (cadmium, chromium,
copper, nickel, lead and zinc). To be acceptable for discharge

the water's metal content may not exceed the limits listed in
Resolution 3374.
.It is the responsibility of'Architectural Signing to contact the Metro
Industrial Waste Section to arrange an inspection to,insure items 1 thru:.
4are.approved prior to any discharge of industrial waste at 12600 Inter-
urban Avenue South. Please feel free to contact this office at 447 - 6747:
with any questions regarding the requirements listed: above.
