Our quotation for reroofing and related sheet metal on the subject property
is as follows.
Roof Surface, Preparation:
Remove and set aside all existing sheet metal: perimeter coping for
reuse.

There will be 1 additional ply of Perma Ply R. fiberglass ply sheet
and 1 additional continuous layer of hot asphalt installed at the
perimeter, 6 feet wide. This additional roofing is installed to slow
down deterioration of the roofing system in areas where water has
been ponding.
There will be an additional ply of 45 lb. fiberglass smooth surface
cap sheet installed at the perimeters for reinforcement at these
points. This material is also set in hot asphalt.

Reinstall all metal edging.

Dear Mr. Hayes:
Pursuant to your request, we have reviewed the load
capacity of the roof structure of the subject warehouses relative to
the added Toad that would result from the installation of a new 3 -ply .
felt and tar built -up roof over the existing roofing material. The
portion of the roof which apparently . has gravel over the built -up
roofing should be removed, and a new 3-ply_ built -up roofing installed
directly, on the roof sheathing. Our review was based on an analysis
of the .roof structure for the original structure as shown on drawings .
prepared by Manson Bennett & Associates, Architect for the
construction of the building in 1972.
The configuration of the buildings is rectangular with
exterior dimensions of 130' -0" x 737'-0" with the long dimension
oriented on the north-south axis. Exterior walls of the structures
are tilt -up concrete and the roof structural system is wood and
consists of Berkley Panels, sawn wood purlins and glued laminated
(glu -lam) beams. The Berkley Panels consist of 5/8 ". thick plywood
over 2x4 joists spaced at 24" center to
center that span 8' -0"
between 4x16 sawn purlins that are supported on the glu -lam beams
which are spaced at 24' -6 3/4" center to center in the north -south
direction for Building 214, and 24' -0" center to center: in ' the
north -south 'direction ,....for Building 186. The glu -lam beams are in a
link ; span;:co`nfigu.ration with three equal spans of 43' -4 ".
Our review analysis was based on the assumption of a total
dead load of 11 lbs. /sq.ft. and a live load of 25 lbs/sq.ft. The
dead load is the actual weight of the existing roof system, including
roofing, sprinklers and lights and an additional Toad of 1.5
lbs. /sq.ft. for the new roofing. The analysis indicates that the
components of the roof system will support the . added load within the
allowable stress levels as specified in the 1970 Uniform Building
Code.
We are enclosing two copies of our calculations and two
prints of the original roof framing plan for your file and for
submittal to the Tukwila Building Department.
