COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL OF COUNCIL MEMBERS DISCUSSION Council Projects or Goals ADJOURNMENT 8:25 P.M. M I NUT E S MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY MS. PESICKA, THAT COUNCILMAN SAUL BE CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING IN THE ABSENCE OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT HILL. CARRIED. Chairman Saul called the Committee of the Whole Meeting to order at 7:50 P.M. GARDNER, TRAYNOR, MS. PESICKA, SAUL, MS. HARRIS. Chairman Saul said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the goals the City Council intends to pursue during 1977 and what should be done to pursue the goals. Discussion took place as to the various goals and needs that the Council would like to see accomplished during 1977. It was stated there was a possibility the absent Council Members, Hill and Van Dusen, would have projects they would like to add to the list. It was determined the Council have the following goals to be accomplished during the upcoming year. 1. Annexation of areas desiring to become part of the City. 2. Water pressure improvement. Norma. Booher, Recording Secretary Tukwila City Hall Council Chambers 3. Social and recreation program for mid teenagers, with the thought in mind that any equipment purchased be used for other groups. 4. Program for senior citizens. 5. Create good image for the City. 6. Emergency vehicle safety along certain streets. 7. Footbridge across river to King County Park. 8. Lively arts. 9. Bike trails or sidewalks along Interurban Avenue and Mall area. 10. Flood control study. 11. Review and evaluation of City's insurance program in order to get the best insurance possible for the money spent. 12. Railroad crossing signals in the industrial section of the City. Chairman Saul remarked the Council might want to take some action with respect to the smell and smoke caused by a local rendering plant, it seems to be worse this year. Councilman Harris said the company has been alerted and they are taking action to alleviate the condition. Councilman Harris said it has been suggested a hazelnut tree be planted at City Hall since it is the symbol of the City. MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY GARDNER, THAT THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING ADJOURN. CARRIED.
