The total number of fire extinguishers required for your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10 B:C) dry chemical type. Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1 and UFC l0.3O1b) Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or set on shelves (NFPA 10, 1 -6.6), and shall be installed so that the top of the extinguisher is not more than 5 ft. above the floor. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.9) Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view, they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire Extinguisher ", with an arrow pointing to the unit. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.3) 2. Exit hardware and marking must meet the requirements of Uniform Fire Code Sections 12.104 & 12.114. Our calculations show adequate parking is available, however we wish to confirm this before any leases are signed. Our calculations are based on code requirements for retail space at 2.5 stalls per 1,000 sq. ft. and restaurant space at 1.0 stalls per 100 sq. ft. All tenants signed to date fall into the office /retail category with perhaps the exception of the Seven Eleven store. Though not yet in operation this store will be a bit different from the typical Seven Eleven store. They will have more area allocated to deli -type foods to take out or eat in. Some interior seating will be available. I have enclosed a sketch floor plan for your review. While I feel that a typical type Seven Eleven store is classified under retail use, this new concept includes some interior seating and could be classified as restaurant space. So in my calculations I classified 1 /3rd of the space (1142 sq. ft.) as restaurant space at the 1 /100 ratio and the remaining 2283 sq. ft. as retail at the 2.5/1000 sq. ft. The restaurant that is interested in locating in 1,600 sq. ft. In the project is a true restaurant catering to lunch and dinner trade. Moroover, we feel that adequate parking is in reality provided. We have designed over 100 retail projects of which restaurants occupy approximately one half. We have found that retail trade drops off to such an extent during the lunch hour, which is when most of the congestion could occur that parking shortages do not develop. Further, the seating provided in the Seven Eleven will cater to the quick turnover patron. morning coffee and roll type, which further assures me that in reality the parking provided is more than adequate.
