Thank you for your speedy review of the JCPenney Phase Two permit drawings. I appreciate the understanding of your department with respect to the short time frame of this particular remodel. I would like to propose an alternative to the building exit configuration requested by Doug Gibbs for stair number five on the lower level. Doug has requested a one -hour enclosure from door number 118 at grid line A and 55.5 north to enclose the corridor and lunch room. The walls surrounding the lunch room are existing and extend to structure above with GWB on both sides. I propose to install rated doors in the corridor between the lunch room and accounting room. This creates a one -hour enclosure for the lunchroom. Section 3305(g) exception 5 of the 1985 Uniform Building Code allows corridors within office spaces to be of non -rated construction when the space is equipped with an automatic sprinkler system. As this structure is sprinklered, I propose to allow the corridor adjacent to the accounting and training room to be constructed with non -rated materials. The total number of fire extinguishers required for your establishment is calculated at one.extinguisher for each 3000.sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should. be of :the "All Purpose" (2A, 10 B:C) dry chemical type.
