Regarding: Plan Review 86- T- 09(Grainger Warehouse Addition) Dear Mr. Miller, We have received plans and calculations for the proposed project and have reviewed them for compliance with Chapters 5 through 33 of the 1982 Edition of the Uniform Building Code, Regulations for Barrier Free Facilities and the Washington State Energy Code. Our comments follow: Structural 1. Call out inspection for F'c 3000 concrete if this is used for the addition. 2. Call out TJL in structural notes and clarify manufacturer's responsibility. 3. Show adequacy of ceiling to take the additional load of insulation. Ceiling to be designed for seismic zone 3. 4. Provide rail detail for the mezzanine and show adequacy. Refer to Table 23 -B. Ordinance 1. Plans show inadequate exiting from the warehouse. Refer to Section 3303(a) & (c). 2. Show mezzanine guardrail height. 3. Stair handrail is in violation of Section 1711. Grainger - 6725 Todd Boulevard Dear Sir: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: 1. The total number of fire extinguishers required for your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10 B :C) dry chemical type. Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1 and UFC 10.301b) Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in the . brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or'set on shelves (NFPA 10, 1 -6.6), and shall be installed so that the top of the extinguisher is' not more:than 5 ft. above the floor. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.9) Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view, they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire Extinguisher ", with an arrow pointing to the unit. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.3) 2. Exit hardware and marking must meet the requirements of Uniform Fire Code Sections 12.104 & 12.114. Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. (UFC 12.104b) 3. Hose stations are required.
