Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER Council President George Hill, presiding, called the Committee of the Whole Meeting to order. COUNCILMEMBERS GARDNER, MS. HARRIS, HILL, MS. PESICKA, SAUL, TRAYNOR, VAN DUSEN IN ATTENDANCE Discussion Council President Hill announced that the purpose of the meeting was Fire Department to review the proposed Fire Department Budget with Chief Hubert Crawley. 1977 Budget Proposal Chief Crawley gave a short presentation. Discussion and clarification was made on several of the line item requests and it was agreed, on the whole, that it was a very fair budget proposal. Captain /Training Officer Position In reviewing the line item Printing and Binding, Mrs. Harris suggested the City go out for bids for all printing after we have moved into new city hall. She felt this could be a great savings to the City. The following Capital Equipment items were discussed and approved for purchase: Item No. Equipment Cost FD -1 Auto 5,000 FD -2 Edger 189 FD -3 Repair Kit 1,705 FD -4 Tester 295 FD -5 Hose 2,658 FD -6 Valve 638 FD -7 Valve 1,550 FD -8 Portable Radio 3,760 FD -9 Mobile Radio 1,350 FD -10 Home Radio 1,170 FD -11 Motor Scooter 3,950 FD -12 Training Aid 690 FD -13 Come Along 300 The Council completed review of the Fire Department Budget. Chief Crawley explained to the Council that the person holding the position of Captain /Training Officer is resigning from this position and asked the Council to consider abolishing the title and creating a new position of Assistant Chief. This new position would not be included in the Fire Fighters Union. He explained that the Training Officer will step back to Lieutenant, the last promoted Lieutenant will step back to Fire Fighter and the last Fire Fighter hired will be without a job. The Council agreed with the creating of this new position. There being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 10:05 P.M. Ma�Cine Anderson
