Basement floor slab INTERIOR WALLS (Between House and Garage) 31 The AWWF for Crawl Space Footing plate size is determined by the size of the building. Gravel footings are twice the width of the plate and the depth should be at least three - quarters of the width of the footer plate. Footings for residential construction are about four to seven inches deep and 11 to 19 inches wide. Structural Requirements The size of the framing members and footing plate for one and two story homes can be selected from Tables 7 and 8. Sizes listed in Table 8 assume that the fill against the crawl space foundation will not exceed four feet and that the wall itself will be no higher than six feet. Table 8 also lists the required stresses for the framing species. Many combinations of lumber species and grades meeting these requirements can be selected from the "National Design Specification for Wood Construction." However, as noted earlier, not all of the species can be treated for use in the AWWF. The following grades are some of the more common in each group. • TABLE 8— Minimum Structural Requirements for Crawl -Space Wall Framing Apply to installations with outside fill height not exceeding 4 feet and wall height not exceeding 6 feet.
