These outstanding examples of engineering excellence and fine craftsmanship are ARI listed, GAMA listed and AGA approved. In addition to efficient heating and cooling, they have exceptional air handling capability. Powerful blowers deliver rated quantities of conditioned air against high external resistances. • RELIABLE HEAT EXCHANGER AND BURNERS. The 18•gauge aluminized steel heat exchanger provides excellent corrosion resistance to the acidic products of combustion, to moisture and to impurities in the at• mosphere and is covered by a 5•year "limited parts" warranty. This heat exchanger and the stainless steel burners have been thoroughly tested and proven over years of field operation. • SAFE, EFFICIENT HEATING OPERATION. The automatic gas valve is the redundant type and meets all the latest AGA requirements for safe operation. It will not allow gas to flow to the main burners until the cycling pilot has been ignited by the spark ignitor when the room thermostat calls for heat. • FOIL•FACED FIBERGLASS insulates all condition- ed air passages to control noise and to minimize heat loss during the heating cycle and heat gain during the cooling cycle. • WIND-PROOF, ALUMINUM VENT CAP discharges all flue products into the atmosphere without any feedback and admits just the right amount of combus- tion air for proper ignition and efficient operation, • DURABLE CONSTRUCTION. All of the unit's sheet metal parts are constructed of commercial grade (G90) galvanized steel. After fabrication, each part is cleaned to remove any grease or dirt from its surfaces. The external parts are then painted with a "desert sand" baked enamel that has been formulated to resist fading and chalking, This UL approved coating system will provide a quality finish for many years. • LOW INSTALLED COST. These units are complete- ly piped, wired, charged and tested at the factory to minimize the contractor's installed cost. Six check points during assembly assure that every unit mea• sures up to our standards for reliability on start -up and for years of dependable operation. • SIMPLE TO INSTALL AND SERVICE. All controls are factory wired and grouped for accessibility. A low voltage thermostat terminal strip and color coded wiring eliminate costly wiring errors. All coils are copper tube /aluminum fin, and the compressor is covered by a 5•year "limited parts" warranty. • SIDE•BY -SIDE SUPPLY AND RETURN AIR OPENINGS are flanged for easy duct connections. • QUIET OPERATION, All motors and the compres- sor are vibration isolated, the cabinet is fully insu- lated, and the condenser fan /motor assembly is dy- namically balanced to reduce vibration and sound. Read these instructions completely before beginning. These installation instructions pertain to 5 ton cooling and or heating units down, requiring accessory plenums, curbs, ducts, and diffusers. PLENUM DUCT Care must be exercised in locating the OPENING unit, plenum, roof curb and roof opening. The HVAC system should cross enough roof supports to safely distribute the system weight over the roof. A service clearance should be maintained on all sides of the plenum and unit. The roof opening should be clear of obstructions and the condensate drain on cooling units must grade down to provide condensate drainage. The following instructions pertain to all types of Micro Metl plenums: LS Plenum with manual 25% outside air; outside air LDR Plenum with full economizer /relief capabilities; and TR Plenum with manual 25% outside air. Part Number 901 -83 provides modulating control of economizer dampers from a preset thermistor mixed air sensor. Mixed Air Sensor M.M. Part Number 901-36 provides signal to actuator to maintain an even 62° supply air to the room by mixing outside air with returning room air during periods when "free cooling" is available. If "free cooling" is not available or equipment is in heating ,fan only or call ", the sensor is locked out of the system and the dampers are in minimum position. An important feature of the mixed air sensor is its low limit capability (ie: if mixed air temperature falls below 55 °F the dampers will return to minimum posi- tion settings. Enthalpy Controller M.M. Part Number 901 -8A senses the outdoor air temperature /humidity (enthalpy), determin- ing the mode of cooling when needed. If the enthalpy is below the set point and the room thermostat requires cooling, the enthalpy controller will signal the economizer to provide "free cooling ". An important feature of Concept VIII, when used with a two stage thermostat, is its ability to utilize the com- pressor or first stage compressor if unit is so equipped along with outside air on an increase in cooling demand. Minimum Position Control located on bracket near actuator is a 300 ohm potentiometer to preset the outside air dampers to supply a variable degree of ventilation during mechanical cooling, heating or "fan-on" modes. Any 300 ohm poten- tiometer maybe mounted remotely in lieu of factory poten- tiometer if desired. • ***INSTALLATION AND START-UP*** Plenums Only Micro Metl Corporation has installed, and pre - wired all components except the enthalpy control and mixed air sensor. These controls are packag- ed separately to eliminate shipping damage or incorrect installation as some plenums utilize op- posite R/A - S/A opening. Please read and follow the step by step instruc- tions and your system will operate the first time and continue to do so, as Micro Metl Corp. has thoroughly tested, inspected and cycled each Con- cept VIII. Step 1— Enthalpy Control - Locate 3 pre - punched holes in the side of damper module (LDR) Illustra- tion #1. Install control per drawing (control is wired, use caution). Figure A in Honeywell publication Form No. 60- 2301 -8. Place setting sticker near knob. Follow instructions on sticker or form to set control. This is a one -time setting, but may be changed later if necessary. Step 2— Wiring Harness - Carefully uncoil wiring harness. Insert black rubber grommet into large hole in side of LDR (Illustration #1). Feed harness through grommet, including short black wires (See step 3). Continue feeding harness through plenum and unit, then into unit control panel. NOTE: As units vary in size and construction - follow manufacturers drawings and specifications for best routing of harness. Use caution when drilling holes near coil wires etc. Select the Micro Met! Corporation wiring diagram that best describes your unit and then read and follow instructions therein. Step 3 —Mixed Air Sensor - Attach sensor wires to black wires with wire nut provided. Insert sen- sor through hole in divider (Illustration #2). Secure sensor with sheet metal screws provided. Step 4— Thermostat - Wire thermostat per manu- facturers instructions and Micro Met! wiring diagram. Do not apply power at this time. ***START-UP INSTRUCTIONS*'** Replace all panels and install birdscreen, but not hoods; before start-up. Step 1 —Set thermostat functions to "off". Set levers to minimum cool /heat. Step 2— Follow manufacturers instructions for unit start -uo. Step 3 —With fan on only (no cooling or heating call), adjust minimum vent position. Step 4 —If enthalpy (outside air),is below econo- mizer set point, set thermostatto "call for cool- ing. Economizer will start, and continue to open until mixed air senses 62° air supply. NOTE: Time functions are an integral part of the economizer and slow reaction time of the actuator is normal. If the thermostat is two stage and set 5° or so below room temperature, compressor operation and economizer will be noted. This is normal. Step 4A —If enthalpy is above the set point, remove screen and attach jumper across terminals 2 and 3 of the enthalpy control (blue and red wires). Follow Step 4, then remove jumper after cycling. Step 5 —Set thermostat on full heat (if equipped) economizer will remain on minimum vent position regardless of, enthalpy content of outside air: Step 6— Install hoods and replace all instructions into envelope for your customer's reference: Manufacturer reserves the right to discontinue, or change at anytime, specifications, designs and prices without notice and without incurring obligations.
