You are the best source of information about your storage needs and the space you have to work with. Apply that information to the step -by -step proce- dures outlined in this Design Guide to design the pallet rack installation that works best for you. The most efficient storage facility is the one that provides the flexibility and capacity you need. The wide range of new Interack -30 components available enables you to select beams, columns, and acces- sories that give you maximum use of every cubic foot of storage. And Interack -30's ease of rearrange- ment allows you to adjust easily to new load sizes and shapes. Interlake's patented safety locking device prevents accidental disengagement of beams during opera- LU -B5B LU -89B tions. Interack -30 wedging studs provide maximum rigidity by forcing beam end plates firmly against the column face and sides. All struts and beam end plates are fillet welded to ensure maximum relia- bility, strength and safety. Interack -30 racks are designed in accordance with the 1983 edition of A.I.S.I.'s "Specifications for the Design of Cold - formed Steel Structural Members." Here - literally at your fingertips - are all the ele- ments you need to design the best pallet rack instal- lation for your needs: your knowledge of those needs and the space you have to work with, and the components of the most up -to -date, versatile pallet rack available to the material handling indus- try today - lnterack-30. Shelf ledges on beams are recessed to allow shelf to fit flush with top of beams, and offer ease of accessory installation. OPTIONAL SAFETY SNAP LOCK Snaps into place automatically when beam is attached to column. Unlocks easily and quickly. Shipped in proper position for use as integral part of beam. • PAT. APPL. FOR ADD ON BAY SHELF BEAMS NEW KEYHOLE DESIGN Interack -30 features a narrow, wedge- shaped keyhole* requiring minimal column metal removal. Its shape guides stud and beam smoothly into position. EASY REARRANGEMENT I nterack-30 components assemble and disassemble easily to change beam ele- vations. Studs* are tapered on all sides for smooth insertion and removal, with no projections to "hang up." Keyholes* are wedge - shaped to guide studs and beams into exact position. 01984 Interlake, Inc. ]nterIake SAFETY LOAD LOCK Industry accepted as the finest of all rack locking devices. Lock is an inte- gral part of the beam, not a loose part. Locks and unlocks with one hand in a second, yet keeps beam secure even under toughest jolts. Standard on all flush top beams. SLOTTED BEAM For locking in decking and cross -bars, optional: available in most beam sizes. STUD'S WEDGING ACTION Interack -30's new wedging stud* in- serts smoothly, engages the column more deeply, and employs wedging action to draw the beam end plate firmly against the new column center rib for greatest rigidity. MAXIMUM RIGIDITY AND STRENGTH Placement of reinforcing struts is computer calculated to meet individ- ual upright section requirements. All struts are inserted into and fillet weld- ed directly to the columns for greater strength and reliability. Load Lock side holes moved Makes column stronger More steel in cross•sections 3. Reinforcing rib on all columns Makes column stronger Front face is stiffer. 4. Deeper stud engagement Greater abuse resistance More stud pull -out resistance 5. New front-to-back wedging action More rigid connection Stud draws end plate against reinforcing rib. 6. Reinforcing rib compensates for different steel gauges More rigid connection Rib makes possible tighter joint, uniform fit, and dimensional consistency. No lip to "hang up" on top of keyhole 7. No upper lip on new stud Easier beam removal 8. Tapered sides on wedge-stud/keyhole Easier beam installation Natural guidance of stud into keyhole 9. Combination of no upper lip and tapers Faster rack installation Installation faster and beam adjustments easier 10. Rectangular tipped load locks Greater abuse resistance Force distributed over larger flat surface. 11. Load lock and deeper stud combination Persistent abuse resistance Connection holds even after column steel yields. 12. Nesting shims Rack stays as erected Footplate and shims nest. 13. Ribbed footplate Stronger footplate Rib increases footplate strength. 14. Interchangeable beams Interack.30 beams can be used with old frames New stud taper and old keyhole taper are unchanged, 15. Rack designed in accordance with 1983 A.I.S.I. "Specifications for Design of Structural integrity of rack design Most recent and most widely recognized design knowledge utilized, Cold- formed Steel Structural Members" EXISTING FEATURES AND BENEFITS 16. Load locks Secures beam from accidental disengagement Industry's most time - tested and use proven locking device. 17. Solid corner uprights More abuse resistance Column efficiency reduced when corners cut out. 18. Safety Orange beams Vista Green frames Reduce rack damage, speed operations, and improve safety Light reflecting orange beams enable driver to see them better, 19. 2" beam adjustability Less wasted space Allows beam spacing to more closely fit your exact height requirement. 20, Column arrow marks every 6" Speeds installation and future adjustments Proper beam placement, location easy to identify and see, 21. Heavy duty frame struts Improves frame strength and abuse resistance They prevent column twisting and withstand impact better. 22. Flush top beams Less wasted space Continuous storage and decking possible along top beam levels, 23. Step-down ledge beams are standard Future use flexibility Wide range of accessories and decking fit, 24. Rectangular load lock holes Future use flexibility QA shelf bracket and various arms fit. 25. Tapered keyhole slot and stud contact More rigid connection Taper pulls beam end plates firmly against side of columns. 26. Stud with 22° angle wedge Longer life, more load capacity, easier re-use. Surface to surface stud and column contact cause little keyhole damage, 22° taper tightens without locking. 27.
