At this time, we have instructed Wormald Fire Protection to. begin work immediately on the in -rack sprinkler design and installation. Unfortunately, prior to receiving your letter, Costco had already stored commodities above the twelve foot level. As the sprinkler system will be installed very shortly, we are requesting permission to leave merchandise stored at the present level. Thank you, and if you should have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office. Yours truly, DOUGLAS MULVANNY /Architects. Mr. Griffin: After review of the Costco expansion plans, we have determined that in -rack sprinklers will be needed for the new area. The bakery, which Is classified as an ordinary Class I area, should be protected in accordance with NFPA 13 -3 -6. We are giving the authority from the insurance side for Costco to store commodities on a temporary basis to the 12 foot level. After the in -rack sprinklers have been installed, stock can then be stored in normal fashion no higher than 20 feet. EASY REARRANGEMENT I nterack -30 components assemble and disassemble easily to change beam ele- vations. Studs* are tapered on all sides for smooth insertion and removal, with no projections to "hang up." Keyholes* are wedge-shaped to guide studs and beams into exact position. 01984 Interlake, Inc. nterlake SAFETY LOAD LOCK Industry accepted as the finest of all rack locking devices. Lock is an inte- gral part of the beam, not a loose part. Locks and unlocks with one hand in a second, yet keeps beam secure even under toughest jolts. Standard on all flush top beams. SLOTTED BEAM For locking in decking and cross -bars, optional: available in most beam sizes. STUD'S WEDGING ACTION Interack -30's new wedging stud* in- serts smoothly, engages the column more deeply, and employs wedging action to draw the beam end plate firmly against the new column center rib for greatest rigidity. MAXIMUM RIGIDITY AND STRENGTH Placement of reinforcing struts is computer calculated to meet individ- ual upright section requirements. All struts are inserted into and fillet weld- ed directly to the columns for greater strength and reliability.
