URETHANE STANDARD WALK-INS SIZE —Kelt engineers have developed special processes whereby • urethane box can be fabricated to your special size requirements. Most other manufacturers' panels are nominal In size thus providing a walk -In to the manufactures specifications. WIDTH —Walk -Ins usually are laid out in foot Increments, but If your requirements are such, a full dimension walk -in can be built. LENGTH —The discussion on width is equally applicable to length. Note Kait's construction allowing flexibility to fit your needs (Insulated building columns, Irregular shaped room, curbs) HEIGHT— Standard heights for walk - Ins without floors are 7' -3 ", 8' -3 ", 9' -3 ", and 10' -3 ", etc. Standard heights with floors are 7'-6 ", 8'-6 ", 9'-6 ", and 10' -6 ". This provides even foot Inside height dimensions. Any height is possible with the flexibility of our product. THICKNESS -3 -112" or 4" options are available. STANDARD CONSTRUCTION —NSF CONSTRUCTION —The National Sanitation Foundation requires that corner and floor sections have a 114" minimum radius. Standard boxes are built without radius. You must specify when NSF approval Is required. FLOORS —Your walk -in can be supplied with or without floors. Basic construction Is the same as other panels. The standard wearing surface Is 16 gauge galvanized steel. Other options are available. SCREED —If you do not need a floor, your box will be provided with screed. This allows the panels to be aligned and leveled to your floor. SOX SKINS —There are many options available. The following are standard: GALVANIZED — Bright galvanized steel ALUMINUM— Stucco embossed and mill finish STAINLESS STEEL —Type 304 #2B finish PAINT — Galvanized steel or aluminum painted with high gloss white acrylic baked enamel. WHITE FIBERGLASS BOARD OPTIONS — Varying combinations of the above, or any like product, are available. Optional gauge, type of finish of metal should be clearly stated. DOORS —Kelt urethane walk -ins may be equipped with any one of our vast range of door sizes or a special size to meet your requirements. See Section 05 for styles and options. The KK frame provides high insulation value, tongue and groove construction, and a rigid frame for anchoring cam locks, eliminating the need for straps or extensive use of metal within the panel. 3.1 /2" WOOD FRAME URETHANE PANELS Kall's wood framing offers many of the same features as the KK frame yet offers cost savings and greater structural strength. Wood framing. combines standard Kalt features: tongue and groove camlock construction In a rigid Integral frame for added structural Integrity. Kali urethane boxes are designed on the modular concept. All of your special sizing needs can also be accomplished with Kelt foamed -In -place urethane boxes. Standard box finishes are galvanized steel, stucco aluminum, white fiberglass board and baked enamel on steel. Stainless steel and other flnlshes are also available on special order. Katt panels offer users the fullest line of foamed -In -place boxes. construction Delsli Sections are fabricated from finishes of your choice, accurately die formed to precise pre - engineered size. Rigid, foamed -In -place urethane completely surrounds locking devices and adheres to the skin. Kalt'a unique wood or urethane Integral frame assures a no-fall positive lock. All Kalt panels are tongue and groove construction. In addition, each panel has gasket on the edges to insure a positive seal. Kelt floor panels are of the same basic design. However, the wearing surface Is of a heavier gauge metal. SECTION THREE / PAGE 1 C, KALT IS THE ONLY MANUFACTURER TO OFFER YOU A COMPLETE CHOICE OF PRODUCTS • All Urethane Insulated Panels In 31" or 4" Thicknesses • 31h" Wood Frame Urethane Insulated Panels • Wood Frame Fiberglas Insulated Panels in 31h" or 51/2" Thicknesses • Class I Urethane Insulated Panels In 31h" or 4" Thicknesses Most manufacturers only make one type of Panel, and you must adapt your requirements to it, even though your need varies according to the product to be stored or processed. This approach is as logical as trying to use one size and type of vehicle to haul all your products. Kalt allows you to select the walk -in that meets your needs! We offer the most choices in INSULATION — FINISH — DOORS. HOW TO CHOOSE WHICH KALT PANEL IS RIGHT FOR YOU In order to assist you in choosing the walk•in that fits your applications at the lowest initial cost and optimum longterm efficiency, we offer technical information and suggestions based on our experience. STANDARD URETHANE Foamed -in -place urethane offers a very high insulating factor with mini- mal thickness. This adds to the interior space available for use. STANDARD FOAM — TYPICAL PROPERTIES CLASS III Density Moisture Vapor Transmission K Factor % Closed Cell Compressive Strength Burning Characteristics 2.0 LBS. /CF 1.7 PERMS — Inches .118 98 32.6 PSI ASTM- D1692 -88 Non - Burning Although urethane Insulation Is a fairly recent development, it has become widely used as the most efficient insulation, but It Is 30% more expensive than fiberglass Initially. Kali urethane panels are a high percent closed-cell--thus cannot absorb moisture. By foaming -in- place, Kalt controls density In the factory and provides a permanent bond between panel skins and insulation. FIBERGLASS Fiberglass insulation provides adequate insulating factors for many walk -in applications at minimal cost. STANDARD FIBERGLASS — TYPICAL PROPERTIES TYPE RA -26 Density 1.07 LBS. /SO. FT. K. Factor Compressive Strength Burning Characteristics .26 11 LBS.' Non - Burning • 25% Deformation at Nominal Thickness Fiberglass is inorganic and its inert fibers will not rot or corrode and have a low capillarity factor. It is bacteria and fungus resistant and essentially odorless. Fiberglass will not support combustion, and this is an Important consideration In view of current building codes and insurance rates. CLASS I URETHANE Many building codes require the use of Class I urethane Insulation in welk- in coolers and freezers. Since many codes are in a state of flux and the plastics industry Is disputing the rulings, you should review the code for your area. If you do find a requirement for Class I urethane, Kalt offers It as an option. SECTION TWO/ PAGE i WHICH HALT URETHANE PANEL TO CHOOSE • 3.1 /2" Wood Frame Urethane • 3-1/2" All Urethane • 4" All Urethane We recommend 3 -112" wood frame urethane panels for most normal temperature applications (coolers over 32' F). Initial cost savings will more than justify the choice. 3.112" all urethane walk -Ina are recommended for any walk -in to be held above -25' F. Low costs of purchase and operation are uniquely balanced to make this Kalt walk -in a real bargain. In areas where wood - boring insects are a major problem, such as the South Pacific, 3.112" all urethane should be used for coolers In lieu of wood frame. We recommend the 4" all urethane panel for very low temperature applications ( -25' F to -40' F). It provides the insulation when needed. WHEN SHOULD HALT CLASS I' FOAM PANELS BE USED? As discussed previously, Kalt offers a Class 1' urethane as an option In any of our urethane panels. You should ask for Class 1' urethane If required. by a building code, government agency, or 11 you feel the installation requires a low flame spread, low smoke rated urethane. When Kelt furnishes Class 1' urethane, we place the following label on every panel to assure you, any inspectors, or other concerned individuals, that the panel does contain Class I' urethane— This panel contains a Class 1• urethane based on Olin Thermolin (R) RF -230 with an Underwriters Laboratories Fire Hazard Classification'. HALT FIBERGLASS PANELS GIVE YOU A WORK -HORSE WALH•IN AT THE LOWEST COST! A recurring question is, "When should 1 choose a fiberglass walk -in in preference to urethane ?" Kelt fiberglass walk -Ins are recommended for coolers (above 32' F) in 3 -1 /2" thickness and freezers (above -10' F) In 5 -112" thicknesses. (For a detailed discussion of Fiberglass Insulation see page 1.) Thousands of these panels have been installed In all sections of the country, and some of the nation's largest' purchasers of walk -Ins use Kelt fiberglass panels. Our Portland and Memphis factories both manufacture fiberglass walk -Ins. Why pay for insulating quality you' often do not need when you have an alternative choice —Kalt Fiberglass Panels. YOU CHOOSE THE FINISH TO MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS SECTION TWO I PAGE 2 GALVANIZED STEEL —Zinc coated steel offering corrosion resistance at lowest cost. This surface also provides maximum resistance to Impact and dents in areas of high abuse. WHITE BAKED ENAMEL OVER GALVANIZED STEEL— Prepalnted In coil form and baked at high temperatures; a white steel panel offers durability, an easy to clean surface, and a highly aesthetic appearance, STUCCO ALUMINUM —A dimpled aluminum, stucco aluminum has better corrosion resistance than steel but is more susceptible to dents, etc. The dimpled surface does tend to disguise minor dents. MILL FINISH ALUMINUM —While offering the same corrosion resistance as stucco aluminum, mill finish provides a smoother surface. It Is less durable. MILL FINISH WHITE ALUMINUM —Same as the above, yet offers durability of white baked -on enamel. STAINLESS STEEL — Maximum in corrosion resistance and durability at a premium price. WHITE FIBERGLASS BOARD —A dimpled finish in gleaming white that provides superior durability, corrosion resistance, and beauty at a premium price. All Kalt panels are tongue and groove construction. In addition, each panel has gasket on the edges to Insure a positive seal. Kalt floor panels are of the same basic design. However, the wearing surface Is of a heavier gauge metal. SECTION THREE / PAGE 1' c. • MILT IS THE ONLY MANUFACTURER TO OFFER YOU A COMPLETE CHOICE OF PRODUCTS • All Urethane Insulated Panels In 31" or 4" Thicknesses • 31h" Wood Frame Urethane Insulated Panels • Wood Frame Fiberglas Insulated Panels in 3+/2" or 51h" Thicknesses • Class I Urethane Insulated Panels in 31/2" or 4" Thicknesses Most manufacturers only make one type of Panel, and you must adapt your requirements to it, even though your need varies according to the product to be stored or processed. This approach is as logical as trying to use one size and type of vehicle to haul all your products. Kalt allows you to select the walk-in that meets your needs! We offer the most choices in INSULATION — FINISH — DOORS. HOW TO CHOOSE WHICH KALT PANEL IS RIGHT FOR YOU In order to assist you in choosing the walk -in that fits your applications at the lowest initial cost and optimum long -term efficiency, we offer technical information and suggestions based on our experience. STANDARD URETHANE Foamed -In -place urethane offers a very high insulating factor with mini- mal thickness. This adds to the interior space available for use. STANDARD FOAM — TYPICAL PROPERTIES CLASS 111 Density Moisture Vapor Transmission K Factor % Closed CeII Compressive Strength Burning Characteristics 2.0 LBS.ICF 1.7 PERMS — Inches .118 98 32.6 PSI ASTM- D1692 -68 Non - Burning Although urethane Insulation Is a fairly recent development, it has become widely used as the most efficient insulation, but It is 30% more expensive than fiberglass initially. Katt urethane panels are a high percent closed -cell —thus cannot absorb moisture. By foaming -in- place, Kalt controls density in the factory and provides a permanent bond between panel skins and insulation. FIBERGLASS Fiberglass insulation provides adequate insulating factors for many walk -in applications at minimal cost. STANDARD FIBERGLASS — TYPICAL PROPERTIES TYPE RA -26 Density 1.07 LBS.ISQ. FT. CLASS I URETHANE Many building codes require the use of Class I urethane insulation in walk - in coolers and freezers. Since many codes are in a state of flux and the plastics industry is disputing the rulings, you should review the code for your area. If you do find a requirement for Class 1 urethane, Kalt offers it as an option. OPTIONAL FOAM— TYPICAL PROPERTIES CLASS 1 Density Moisture Vapor Transmission K Factor % Closed Cell Compressive Strength Burning Characteristics 2.0 LBSICF 1.5 PERMS — Inches .12 98 26 PSI ASTM -E84 Flame ' Spread 25 (a) 'This listing refers to the U.L. WHICH KALT URETHANE PANEL TO CHOOSE • 3.112" Wood Frame Urethane • 3.112" All Urethane • 4" All Urethane We recommend 3 -112" wood frame urethane panels for most normal temperature applications (coolers over 32° F). Initial cost savings will more than justify the choice. 3 -112" all urethane walk -Ins are recommended for any walk -in to be held above -25' F. Low costs of purchase and operation are uniquely balanced to make this Kelt walk -in a real bargain. In areas where wood - boring Insects are a major problem, such as the South Pacific, 3 -112" all urethane should be used for coolers in lieu of wood frame. We recommend the 4" all urethane panel for very low temperature applications ( -25' F to -40' F). It provides the insulation when needed. WHEN SHOULD KALT CLASS 1' FOAM PANELS BE USED? As discussed previously, Katt offers a Class I' urethane as an option In any of our urethane panels. You should ask for Class 1• urethane if required. by a building code, government agency, or if you feel the installation requires a low flame spread, low smoke rated urethane. When Kalt furnishes Class I' urethane, we place the following label on every panel to assure you, any inspectors, or other concerned individuals, that the panel does contain Class I' urethane— This panel contains a Class 1' urethane based on Olin Thermolin (R) RF -230 with an Underwriters Laboratories Fire Hazard Classification'. KALT FIBERGLASS PANELS GIVE YOU A WORK -HORSE WALK -IN AT THE LOWEST COST! A recurring question is, "When should I choose a fiberglass walk -in in preference to urethane ?" Kelt fiberglass walk -ins are recommended for coolers (above 32° F) in 3-1 /2" thickness and freezers (above -10' F) In 5 -112" thicknesses. (For a detailed discussion of Fiberglass insulation see page 1.) Thousands of these panels have been installed in all sections of the country, and some of the nation's largest purchasers of walk -ins use Kelt fiberglass panels. Our Portland and Memphis factories both manufacture fiberglass walk -ins. Why pay for insulating quality you often do not need when you have an alternative choice —Kalt Fiberglass Panels. WHITE BAKED ENAMEL OVER GALVANIZED STEEL— Prepainted In coil form and baked at high temperatures; • white steel panel oilers durability, an easy to clean surface, and a highly aesthetic appearance. STUCCO ALUMINUM —A dimpled aluminum, stucco aluminum has better corrosion resistance than steel but Is more susceptible to dents, etc. The dimpled surface does tend to disguise minor dente. MILL FINISH ALUMINUM —While offering the same corrosion resistance as stucco aluminum, mill finish provides a smoother surface. 11 Is less durable. Other products are available at added coat and subject to availability.
