Every unit is subjected to a series of factory performance tests so that Friedrich is sure to deliver to you a product of unexcelled quality and dependability. PERFORMANCE TESTS — Friedrich tests every unit for Teaks at 400 pounds pressure, tested electronically so even the most minute leak would be detected and corrected prior to leaving the factory. This critical series of leak tests insures that the system is free from refrigerant loss at time of delivery to you. OPERATION TEST —Every Friedrich unit is given a factory test run to make sure that each and every component is functioning properly, which insures trouble -free installation. ELECTRICAL TEST —Every Friedrich unit is sub- ject to a high voltage electrical test, to detect and correct any possible shock hazards, Compressor speed and amperage; fan motor speed and am- perage...all are checked and must meet Friedrich's exacting engineering standards. FINAL INSPECTION —Extra care ...extra checks ...that range from tests for vibration to paint in- spection. Friedrich units are put together better so you can count on years of dependable operation. ENGINEERED FOR FAST, EFFICIENT INSTALLATION 4 STYLES OF CONTROL PANELS — Tailored to meet the individual requirements of each installation. SKIDS BUILT IN— Friedrich units are equipped with built -in skids to reduce job installation time and expense. The unit can be quickly moved into place using ordinary pipes and rollers. EASY REFRIGERANT CHARGING — Friedrich provides a convenient charging port which greatly reduces refrigerant charging time. FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT —All Friedrich units are engineered to reduce installation costs by offering factory installation of the following: Standard Equipment: Pre -wired control panels with exactly the right controls for every operating and defrost situation Liquid line shut -off valves to permit servicing without losing refrigerant Required Equipment: Winter control kit is required where outside ambient drops below 45' F. Kit consists of hot gas by -pass for head pressure control, crankcase heaters, and over -size receivers for 5 HP and larger units to provide adequate pump -down capacity. Pump -down solenoid valves required to shut off refrigerant flow during defrost. Refrigerant is pumped into receiver, keeping it out of crankcase during low ambient periods. Optional Equipment: Fin protection grill (Bird screen) available to protect from damage and airborne trash while permitting maximum airflow across condenser coil. Fan cycle controls available on most models to control head pressure down to 45° F. am- bient. Several control panels available for electric defrost systems... provides a time delay cir- cuit in defrost heaters so heating starts after pump -down and compressor shut -off. In -line suction filters to protect compressors from contamination. Liquid moisture indicators for easy inspection of refrigerant charge. Driers — connected with flarenuts... twin driers standard on 10 HP and larger models... wax removal type on R -502 low temperature units, to eliminate wax accumulation in the refrigerant system. Suction vibration eliminators, pre -piped and supported by tubing brackets when factory installed. ENGINEERED FOR CONVENIENT ECONOMICAL SERVICE TOTAL ACCESSIBILITY— Friedrich condensing unit service is both fast and easy. Friedrich en- gineers have designed the unit for easy access to all components to facilitate nominal servicing. The front of the compressor is free from obstruction of control panels, conduit or piping. COMPLETE PUMP -DOWN CAPACITY —A con- venient feature that provides adequate storage of refrigerant in the receiver. COMPRESSOR ON -OFF SWITCH —A quick, con- venient way to shut down the compressor for ser- vicing without affecting the operation of the time - clock. ISOLATION SERVICE VALVES — During service of the unit, all major components...the storage receiver, filter /dryer, condenser and compressor ...can be isolated from the system with isolation valves. These features, which are standard on Friedrich units, permit quicker, easier and more efficient servicing. All isolation valves are equipped with service gauge connections. FRIEDRICH OPERATIONAL SAFETY WIRE GUARD PROTECTION —A housing of extra wire guards surrounds the fan to prevent ac- cidental contact with fan blades. ELECTRICALLY BONDED METAL PARTS— Friedrich electrically connects all parts of the unit to provide a one -point ground to reduce accidental shock hazard. PROTECTIVE BARRIERS —Metal barriers placed inside the control panel prevent accidental con- tact with electrical components when adjusting the defrost time -clock or operating the circuit breakers. DEFROST CIRCUIT BREAKERS—On electric defrost units, defrost circuit breakers are sized to provide maximum protection to the defrost heaters. When the defrost load exceeds 40 amps, addi- tional circuit breakers are provided for extra protection. OIL PRESSURE SAFETY CONTROL —On 5 through 20 HP units, the safety control stops the compressor automatically if oil pressure drops to a low level. FUSIBLE PLUG —In the receiver; provides pres- sure relief in case of fire. The plug is threaded to permit outside venting. DESIGN SUPERIORITY DESIGNED FOR LONGEVITY AND DEPENDABILITY OF OPERATION OVER CONSTRUCTION —Heavy gauge extra smooth galvanized steel with 2 -coat, 2 -bake finish to insure maximum durability and protection to condensing unit, while providing easy access to control panel for setting, and to condenser for maintenance. CONDENSER CONSTRUCTION —The durability and operating efficiency of Friedrich units is en- hanced by such high- quality design features as the copper tube, aluminum -fin condenser, generously sized to dissipate heat even under the hottest of operating conditions. Another important feature is the condenser's multi- circuit, low pressure -drop design, which provides maximum operating capacity. CONDENSER FANS — Typical of the quality you expect from Friedrich, the standard sleeve bearing fan motors can be lubricated, thus insuring long- evity, and ball bearing fan motors are also available as optional equipment on 3 HP and larger models. Fan motors mount direct to fan shroud, eliminating unnecessary wear due to vibration. The fan motor brackets also position the fan for maximum air flow.
