RE: Klopfensteins @ Southcenter - Completion
Gentlemen:
We are completing Klopfensteins' renovation at the
Southcenter Mall. As it is an existing store, we were
permitted use of the space for only two weeks without thier
occupancy. It is impossible to complete this store within
this two week period.
As the costs of shutdown of an operating store are
punitive, the owner needs to restock the store and resume
operations without the storefront being completed. We will
also not have the final electrical inspection until Friday
October 23. All 'life' systems are completed.
We of the Glad Construction Group will hold the City of
Tukwila harmless from any and all problems that may arise
from our not having the storefront completed, or from a one
day delay in final electrical inspection. This hold
harmless will expire upon final inspection.
Our supervisor, Mr. Allan Ray will work very closely
with your Mr. Norm Bray to ensure that the job is totally
complete by the 29th of October. We intend to continue the
respectful relationship we have had with your department,
and we so appreciate your cooperation.

The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. Maintain fire extinguisher coverage throughout.
2. Exit hardware and marking must meet the requirements
of Uniform Fire Code Sections 12.104 & 12.114.
Exit doors shall be openab.le from the inside without
the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort.

Exits shall be illuminated at any t:i.me the building is
occupied. An emergency system shall automatically
provide, exit i..11umi.nati.on upon failure of the main
power supply. (IJFC 12.113a)
3. Maintain sprinkler protection for all enclosed areas.
(NFPA 13, 4-1.1.1)
All modifications to sprinkler systems shall have the
written approval of the Washington Surveying & Rating
Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk
:1 nsurers, then by the Tukwila Fire Department. No
sprinkler work shall commence without approved
