Two #4 horizontal rebar were provided in the footing and three #4 horizontal bars in the wall. Number 4 vertical .r_ebars were placed at 2' c.c. The new wall is connected to the existing by five #4 bars, drilled and grouted 4" into the existing wall. The footing is approximately 4' deep and rests on dense compacted silty clay with a bearing capacity in excess of 2,000 p.s.f. The wall is backfilled on both sides so that unbalanced fill is insignificant. The wall as constructed is structurally sound.
