The Personal Earth Station (PES) outdoor equipment is similar in basic function to a satellite television receive -only (TVRO) antenna, although it is smaller than the most common TYRO antenna types. It is professionally designed to complement and fit gracefully into contemporary office and retail buildings. The PES outdoor equipment includes an antenna with mount, a small radio (or RF Head), and an auxiliary electronics unit (AEU). The antenna is a beige, 1.8 meter (6 feet) diameter shallow dish mounted nearly vertical. The radio is a small white box held at the focal point of the antenna by a support arm. The AEU is also a small white box, mounted under the antenna, usually on a bracket on the pole supporting the antenna. The PES antenna mounts on a 4" diameter pole. This pole may be supported by a broad, non - penetrating platform on available roof space, by brackets attached to an available wall or parapet, or by a suitable extension buried in a new concrete looting. The Personal Earth Station indoor equipment is a small electronics box called the Digital Interface Unit, or DIU. The DIU is approximately 5" H by 18" W by 16" D. The DIU will be located near existing data terminal equipment within your tenant's space. The F" rsonal Earth Station communicates with a computer center, or Hub, located at your tenant's national headquarters, via a geostationary satellite. The satellite orbits 22,300 miles over the equator.
