TEE FOLLOWING COMMENTS APPLY TO AND BECOME PART OF THE APPROVED PLANS
UNDER TUKWILA BUILDING PERMIT NUMBER 5-7g9i .
1. No changes will be made to plans unless approved by Architect and
Tukwila Building Department.
2. Plumbing permit to be obtained through King County Health Department
and plumbing will be inspected by that agency (including all gas
piping).
3. Electrical work to be inspected by State Electrical Inspectors and
all required electrical permits obtained through that agency.
4. All mechanical work to be under separate permit.
5. All permits to be posted at job site prior to start of any
construction.
6. Any new ceiling grid and light fixture installation to meet lateral
bracing requirements for Seismic Zone 3.
7. Partition walls attached to ceiling grid must be laterally braced if
over eight (8) feet in length.
8. All construction to be done in conformance with approved plans and
requirements of the Uniform Building Code (1985 Edition), Uniform
Mechanical Code (1985 Edition), Washington State Energy Code (1986
Edition), and Washington State Regulations for Barrier Free
Facilities (1986 Edition).

B. Field Inspection Procedures and Requirements
1. 24 -hour notice is required prior to desired inspection. (433 -1849)
2. Standard inspection stages are (as applicable):
a. If demolition work is to occur, prior to the work starting.
b. When demolition has occurred, immediately thereafter, prior to the
remodel work starting.
c. Foundation - after forms and reinforcement are in place, prior to
placing concrete.
d. Roof Sheathing - prior to application of roof covering material.
e. Framing - prior to insulating and covering but after required
electrical, plumbing, and mechanical rough -in inspections have
been made.
f. Insulation.
g. Wallboard - prior to taping.
h. Final inspections by the various agencies involved should be
obtained prior to the Building Department being called for the
final sign -off inspection,
C. Occupancy and /or use of structure or remodeled area shall not occur until
the Building Department completes a final sign -off inspection.
D. It is recommended that the contractor /job superintendent contact the Build-
ing Inspector (433 -1852) to set up a short meeting prior to starting the
job. Although not required, a meeting of this type can often eliminate
problems, delays, and misunderstandings as the project progresses.

Dear Sir:
The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. The total number of fire extinguishers required for
your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for
each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be
of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10 B:C) dry chemical type.
Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or
less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1 and UFC 10.301b)
Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in
the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or set on
shelves, and shall be installed so that the top of the
extinguisher is not more than 5 ft. above the floor.

Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain
view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view,
they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire
Extinguisher, with an arrow pointing to the unit.

2. Exit hardware and marking must meet the requirements
of Uniform Fire Code Sections 12.104 & 12.114.
Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without
the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort.

contrasting color with the surrounding area and shall
have letters not less than six inches high with a
minimum letter width of 3/4 ". (UFC 12.114a & 12.114b)
3. Maintain sprinkler protection for all enclosed areas.

All modifications to sprinkler systems shall have the
written approval of the Washington Surveying & Rating
Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk
Insurers, then by the Tukwila Fire Department. No
sprinkler work shall commence without approved
drawings. (City Ordinance $1141 & NFPA 13, 1 -9.1)
4. In order to provide you with the fastest police and
fire protection under emergency conditions, please post
your suite, room or apartment number in a conspicuous plane
near the main entry door. Numbers shall contrast with
their background. (UFC 10.208)
5. All required occupancy separations, area separation
walls, and draft -stop partitions shall be maintained and
shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when
damaged, altered, breached, penetrated, removed or
improperly installed. (UFC 10.401)
