An approved automatic sprinkler system may be installed in lieu of a fire alarm system. (Plans must be submitted to the Fire Prevention Bureau for Cityf Tukwila FIRE DEPARTMENT 444 Andover Park East Tukwila, Washington 98188 -7661 (206) 575-4404 Gary L. PANNING DEPT. Please refer to the xerox of a studio apartment for North Hills. The arrangement is to divide the room with one full height wall and one 3' -6" high wall. There is no door to the sleeping area. The ICBO information you have provided is for a unit with the sleeping area up a flight of stairs. The stairs are within the unit and would impede the fire fighters rescue attempts. We feel the loft sleeping arrangement is different and does not compare to the area divisions in North Hill project. If you feel the divisions in North Hills Studio apartments, as shown in the drawing, will impede the fire fighters rescue attempts and violates the intent of Section 1204, we will note this in our next letter. Please inform us of your decision on this issue.
