Dear Sir: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by the Fire Prevention Bureau and are NOT APPROVED as submitted. The following concerns must accompany the plans in order to properly evaluate: 1. Refrain from blocking sprinker coverage with shelving. NFPA Standard #13 states that any shelving or decks in excess of 4 feet in width will require the installation of sprinklers thereunder. (UFC 10.302) 2. All sprinkler drawings shall be prepared by companies licensed to perform this type of work. Drawings shall first be approved .by the Washington Surveying & Rating Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk Insurers, then by the Tukwila Fire Department. No • sprinkler work shall commence without approved drawings. (City Ordinance #1141 & NFPA 13, 1 -9.1) (UFC 10.307) 3. The total number of fire extinguishers required for your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for each 300) sq. ft. of area. Job No. 8806 -125) Dear Steve: Inspection of the Storage Rack drawing revealed one basic geometry and loading. This situation is summarized on page 1 of 7 of the Seismic Analysis and the calculations were performed based on this geometry and loading. Under these conditions, the Storage Racks were found to be stable with the addition of .(1)' ' " 0 expansion anchor with' 2 =3/4" minimum embedment and a foot plate per sheet 5 of 7 at each leg of every rack. This method of bolting will accept a resisting force deemed adequate per the 1985 UBC Standard for seismic loading with respect to overturning. If you have any questions, please contact me.
