Southcenter Food Court Noise Limitations
Issuance of this permit featured Southcenter acknowledging
that TMC Sections 8.22, 8.28.170 and 8.01.050 apply.
Therefore aside from the Noise Ordinance (TMC 8.22) we
will be looking to see that no nuisance is created (TMC
8,28.170). If you should observe on or around the
shopping center any "...loud noises...carried on in such a
way as to disturb the peace and tranquility of the
neighborhood..." a nuisance exists and should be cited and
abated per TMC 8.28.220 and .230. Southcenter is aware of
this requirement and the possible penalty of TMC 8.01.050.

SUJBECT: TEMPORARY EXITWAY FOR FOOD COURT CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION OF
INTERIOR WORK AT OLD LUCKY'S GROCERY STORE
Dear Mr. Griffin:
This letter is furnished as an attachment to our building permit application
and a letter of understanding for the above subject work. Please note that
this letter specifically addresses a) configuration of temporary exitway
b) limits of demolition presently requesting authorization to proceed and
c) our understanding related to construction noise.
TEMPORARYY
Confirming our recent discussion regarding the temporary exitway for FRod
Court construction, I have attached 8i x 11 drawings of the exitway
configuration.
Related to the construction of this exitway, the following items shall be
incorporated:
1. Existing fire sprinkler system shall be modified to provide adequate
coverage for the exitway per NFPA•13 requirements.
2. Fluorescent light fixtures will be chain -hung at approximately
12' -0" heighth.
3. Finish floor will be a vinyl composition tile.
4. Two each double exit doors will be located at the south end of
the exitway. Each aluminum storefront door will provide an exit
width of 6' -0 ".
5. Emergency exit light packs will be located in the exitway as well.
6. At the exterior exit doors, existing stone veneer will be removed
from sidewalk elevation to underside of the canopy. New storefront
will be constructed into existing metal stud work. See attached
demolition section "A" dated September 20, 1988.

7. Wall construction shall consist of full heighth 6" x 20 ga. metal
studs at 24" o.c. with 5/8" gypsum drywall on exitway side of well
only. See attached wall section no. 1 dated September 20, 1988.
8. Access points for nightly work will be allowed in one side of the
exitway for after hour work access only.
9. No construction activity in exitway will be allowed between
9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Absolutely no overhead work will be permitted
during business hours in areas where the public has access.
10. At no time will access to shops 472, 466 or 460 be constricuted to
be less than full storefront width.

11. At no time during business hours or after hours will cross- traffice
for construction purposes through exitway be allowed.
12. Alignment of 21' -8" temporary exitway shall not be reconfigured
until an acceptable exitway transition plan is approved in writing
by the City of Tukwila.
13. Provide handicap access to new temporary storefront doors.
DEMOLITION OF INTERJ,QR WORK AT OLD LUCKY'S GROCERY STORE
We request authorization under this permit application to proceed with
construction demolition es outlined on the Food Court construction documents
dated August 16, 1986. Drawings referenced are DM -1, DM.2, DM -3 and DM -4.
No demolition shall occur in the existing exitway until after the new temporary
exitway is constructed. Limits of requested demolition shall be within the
old Lucky's store configuration.
Be advised that no demolition outlined on Food Court structural drawings will
occur at this time. This demolition is pending issuance of the full building
permit for overall food court construction.

We hereby acknowledge our responsibility to comply with city ordinances
regarding construction noise. Specifically we acknowledge the following
articles of the city ordinance:
Chapter 8.22 NOISE

The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. * ** EXITS * ** - UFC Article 12
Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without
the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort.
(UFC 12.104b)
Exit doors shall swing in the direction of exit travel
when serving an occupant load of 50 or more. (UBC
3303) (UFC 12.101)
Exit hardware and marking must meet the requirements
of Uniform Fire Code Sections 12.104 & 12.114.
2. * ** SPRINKLER SYSTEMS * ** - UFC ARTICLE 10 - NFPA 13
All sprinkler drawings shall be prepared by companies
licensed to perform this type of work. Drawings shall
first be approved by the Washington Surveying & Rating
Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk
Insurers, then by the Tukwila Fire Department. No
sprinkler work shall commence without approved
