The following comments were provided from staff: 1. Planning Department requires a minimum 8' high opaque fence as required by the Tukwila Zoning Code. 2. Fire Department requires compliance with Article 79, Uniform Fire Code. Conditions are outlined in their September 9, 1988, memo (attached). 3. Building Division requires a building permit for fences over 6' high. Enclosed is a building permit application. Two (2) sets of plans are required, which include a site plan identifying all buildings and location of proposed fence, details on the fence structure, details on the footings, and materials used. VanDusen, Mayor Becky Davis From: Chief Nick Olivas Subject: Sun Sportswear Outside Chemical Storage Date: September 9, 1988 Article 79, Division IV of the U.F.C., requires that outside container and portable tank storage be in accordance with table 79.403 (copy attached) In addition: 1) When two or more classes are stored in a single pile, the maximum quantity permitted in the pile shall be the smallest of the two or more separate maximum quantities. 2) Containers or portable tanks in a pile shall be not more than 150 feet from a 20 foot wide access way that will allow fire - control apparatus to approach the pile. 3) The storage area shall be protected against tampering or trespassers where necessary and shall be kept free of weeds, debris and other combustible materials not necessary to the storage. 4) Materials which will react with water or other liquids to produce a hazard shall not be stored in the same area with flammable and combustible liquids. 5) The storage area shall be graded in a manner to divert possible spills away from buildings or other exposures or shall be surrounded by a curb at least 6 inches high. When curbs are used, provisions shall be made for draining of accumulations of groundwater or rainwater or spills of liquids. Drains shall terminate at a safe location and shall be accessible to operation under fire conditions. 6) A distance of not less than 15 feet shall be maintained between the liquid storage and combustible material. 7) Signs shall be posted in the storage areas prohibiting open flames and smoking. 8) The storage of empty tanks and containers previously used for the storage of flammable or combustible liquids, unless free from explosive vapors, shall be stored as if filled. Tanks and containers when emptied shall have the covers or plugs immediately replaced in openings.
