I have reviewed the proposed manufactured rack system for the referenced
company and find them to be adequate for the use intended and in confor-
mance with design load requirements for Seismic Zone 3 as prescribed in
the 1985 edition of the Uniform Building Code.
Although the owner intends to load only two levels of storage, I have
examined the system as though the top level could also be loaded. This
passes load and stress requirements. The base plate anchor bolt require-
ments have been determined and are shown the calculations attached.

Structural Calcs
Prior to formal application submittal I went over the form and
requirements with Butch Wettland. I told him that we would need
structural calcs stamped by a Washington licensed structural
engineer. I pulled out several active building permits for rack
storage so he could write down some names. I did not recommend
any particular person.
In reviewing the application, the submitted structural calcs
appear to have been telefaxed. The engineer's stamp is from
California, and the calcs have a clause which states that the
signature is valid only on print, a signed copy is not to be
reproduced.
I informed Dave Hanson, Intermountain Vet Supply, that we would
need an original Washington State licensed engineer stamp on the
calcs. I stressed that these plans would not be further reviewed
until this information was received.
