Footings will he excavated into undisturbed et ^th unlesa soils investigation is provided per
Section 2907 (a) and Table 29 -, \, 1916 Uniform Building Code.
Foundation width and thickness requirements shall be in accordance with Table 29 -A, 1986
Uniform (holding Code, shown below. Each floor containing the load of a stud wall is
considered a story.

WALLS - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Stepped footings and walls shall be tied one level to another with continuous rebar.
Rebar shall be accurately placed, supported, secured against displacement, and cleaned prior
to calling for inspection.
Rebar at the time concrete is placed shall be free from mud, oil, frost, or any other
materials that adversely affect bonding.
Concrete will not he placed on frozen ground and shall be protected during freezing or near
freezing weather per Section 2G05 (f), 1916, Uniform Building Code.
Stub steel is required when placing footings and walls separately. It shall be placed 12"
from corners then 36" 0.c. and will protrude 16" above footing.
All wood forms which have been used in placing concrete shall be removed before a building
is occupied. Pressure treated or foundation grade cleats will be the only acceptable wood
member left between footing and foundation wall.
Unless an approval design is provided, foundations for masonry and concrete fireplaces shall
contain reinforcing steel, be not less than 12" thick, and extend not less than 6" outside
the fireplace wall.
All foundation walls and footings will contain rebar as shown below. Footings will always
hav,..a minimum of two N4 rebar continuous.
