Per our conversation at your office this date, we hereby
request the Building Department to temporarily waive the
requirement for fire rated door jambs at the two corridor
locations. Due to a misunderstanding of the requirements we
installed door jambs to match the existing door jambs in the
building. To correct this situation we have ordered the
necessary fire rated assemblies for these doors and expect
delivery within three weeks. We propose that the waiver of
this requirement shall be temporary for a term of four weeks
from this date, at which time the proper door assemblies
shall be installed by Western Tier Corporation. This shall
be considered special consideration for this job only and
shall not be construed as a standard or policy that would
allow this type of adjustment on any other job current or in
the future.

Dear. Sir:
1. The total number of fire extinguishers required for
your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for
each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be
of the "All. Purpose" (2A, 10 B:C) dry chemical type.
Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or
less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1) (UFC 10.301b)
Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in
the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinents, or set on
shelves (NFPA 10, 1 -6.6), and shall be installed so
that the top of the extinguisher is not more than 5
ft. above the floor. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.6) (UFC 10.301)
Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain
view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view,
they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire
Extinguisher," with an arrow pointing to the unit.

2. Exit hardware and marking must meet the requirements
of Uniform Fire Code Sections 12.104 & 12.114.
Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without
the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort.

doorways and where otherwise necessary to clearly
indicate the direction of egress. Signs shall be of a

first be approved by the Washington Surveying & Rating
Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk
Insurers, then by the Tukwila Fire Department. No
sprinkler work shall commence without approved

4. In order to provide you with the fastest police and
fire protection under emergency conditions, please post
your suite, room or apartment number in a conspicuous place
near the main entry door. Numbers shall contrast with
their background. (UFC 10.208)
All required occupancy separations, area separation
walls, and draft -stop partitions shall be maintained
and shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced
when damaged, altered, breached, penetrated, removed
or improperly installed. (UFC 10.401)
Walls and ceilings of corridors serving an occupant
load of. 30 or more shall be not less than one -hour
fire resistive construction. (UFC 3305g) (UFC
12.106a) (Corridor formed by the north wall of the
business)
The corridor north of this occupancy may not form a
dead end off the main exit corridor, that is more than
20 feet long.
