PRESENT
Councilmembers: Kate Kruller , Acting Chair , Dennis Robertson, Verna Seal (Absent : Allan Ekberg )

CALL TO ORDER:
Acting C ommittee Chair Kruller called the meeting to order at 5:1 5 p. m.
I. PRESENTATIONS

II. BUSINESS AGENDA
A.
WSDOT Local Agency Participating Agreement : I - 5/Klickitat Dr Unstable Slope/Elevated Walkway
Staff i s informing Co mmittee of the Local Agency Participating A greement with WSDOT for the design
and construction of the Klickitat slope and the City - owned elevated walkway. WSDOT will be the lead
to stabilize the slope and repair the walkway and will be
$37,713.00 , The City has fulfilled all of the WSDOT requirements and the p roject is currenly being
advertised and the bid opening is scheduled for 8/20 with construction this Fall . The overall cost of

the WSDOT project is over $1 million.

Stormwater Detention : 42 Avenue S Phase III (SC Blvd to S 160 St)
Staff is informing Committee of the open detention pond that will be constructed on the City - owned

parcel at 15421 42 Ave S. The home on the parcel is currently be ing used by the Way Back Inn and
there is some concern with children in the house being close to a pond. The pond will take up a good
portion of the parcel but will be fenced and worked in a way to allow a yard for the house . This item
was presented to Coun c il in 1995 and the project is currently at 60 % design. Construction is now
scheduled for 2016 with the possibility of a Seattle City Light undergrounding agreement. Cyndy also

informed Committee that 42 Ave S will be closed for approximately 6 - 8 weeks during the project for

the culvert installation , otherwise it will be open to traffic.
III. SOUTH COUNTY AREA TRANSPORTATION BOARD (SCATBD) Meeting
The A ugust 1 9 , 2014 Meeting has been cancelled. Minutes from July have not been distributed but
Councilmember Kathy Hougardy gave an update to Council on July 21, 2014.
IV. MISCELLANEOUS

The Klickitat Dr/51 Ave S stop sign is scheduled to be removed by WSDOT on 8/1 0 / 14. Rumble
strips will also be installed on the the bridge. The only stop sign will be at the SR - 518 off - ramp.

Councilmember Kruller gave an update on SeaTac road project that closed Military Rd at S 160 St.
She spoke to a SeaTac resident who informed her that the project will be o ngoing for another year
due to PSE undergrounding. Committee requested that our Public Works obtain a current schedule
of the project from the City of SeaTac.

Staff informed Committee on the power outage along the Interurban Ave S corridor on Thursday, July
24 that was caused by the Sanft property development hitting an overheard power line.
