AN ORDINANCE AMENDING sections 41.12.070 and 41'.
of Ordinance 3L/5
The City Council of the City of Tukwila do ordain
as follows:
Sections 41.12.070 and 41.12.100 of Ordinance4
Are hereby amended to read as follows:
41.12.070 Qualification of Applicants. An applicant
for a position of any kind under Civil Service, must be a citizen
of the United States of America and an elector of the County:'.in
which he resides, who can read and write the English language,
and must have been a resident of the State of Washington for at
least one year immediately prior to the application date.
An applicant for a position of any kind under Civil
Service must be of an age suitable for the position applied for,
in ordinary good health, of good moral character, and of temper-
ate and industrious habits; these facts to be ascertained in such
manner as the commission may deem advisable.
41.12.100 Filling of Vacancies= Probationary. Whenever
a position in the classified service becomes vacant, the appoint-
ing power if it desires to fill the vacancy, shall make requisition
upon the commission for the names and addresses of persons eligible
for appointment thereto. The commission shall certify the names
of the three persons highest on the eligible list for the class
to which the vacant position has been allocated, who is willing
to accept employment. The appointing power shall forthwith appoint
one person from the list of three to such vacant position.
No appointment, employment or promotion in any position
in the classified service shall be deemed complete until after
the expiration of a period of three months probationary service,
as may be provided in the rules of the Civil service Commission.
During said probationary period the appointing power may terminate
the employment of the person certified, or if during the performance
test thus afforded, upon observation or consideration of the per-
formance of duty, the appointing power deems him unfit or unsatis-
factory for service in the department, it may terminate the employ-
ment, whereupon the appointing power shall request of the commission
that they certify the names of the three persons highest on the
eligible list for appointment to the vacancy thus occurring.
