This arrangement is an alternative to the perimeter iron method prescribed in ASCE 7-02 Section 9.6.2.6.2.2 Attached is a drawing dated June 23, 2006 that provides a detailed description of the Chicago Metallic 1496 dip alternative perimeter method. 2.) The 1496 dip provides over 2 in. of ledge support for grid members on the °used' ovals where % in. of movement mast be accommodated. On the ffattachar wags, the grid components are fixed, therefore the clip is merely a means to fix the grid to the wail angle. Pop rivairng t eface of the grid to the wall angle serves the same purpose. 3.) Mariana! panels at the perimetervall have the same ledge support regardless of the method used to attach the grid on the two required walls_ I hope this information is helpful.
