JOAN HERNANDEZ, Council President; CLARENCE MORIWAKI, ALLAN EKBERG; STEVE LAWRENCE, JOHN RANTS. MOVED BY HERNANDEZ, SECONDED BY RANTS, TO EXCUSE COUNCILMEMBERS DUFFLE AND ROBERTSON. MOTION CARRIED. MIKE KENYON, City Attorney; JOHN McFARLAND, City Administrator; RON WALDNER, Chief of Police; ROSS EARNST, Public Works Director. MOVED BY MORIWAKI, SECONDED BY EKBERG, TO FORWARD THE PRESENTATION ON THE BOEING EIS BRIEFING TO A FUTURE DATE. MOTION CARRIED. MOVED BY MORIWAKI, SECONDED BY LAWRENCE, TO ADD A RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING DATE FOR THE VACATION OF A PORTION OF SO. 150TH STREET TO THE AGENDA. MOTION CARRIED. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS Mayor VanDusen presented Officer Eric Murphy with a Certificate of Graduation from the Police Academy. Murphy broke his shoulder the day before graduation and was unable to attend the ceremony at the academy. Cindy Upthegrove, Marketing Manager of the Museum of Flight, was introduced by Mayor VanDusen. Ms. Upthegrove described her visit to the meeting as a "social call" and thanked the City for the excellent police and fire service provided to the museum during past events. An ordinance amending existing provisions for failure to abide by court order. e. An ordinance amending certain adult entertainer licensing provisions. f. Accept trails project as complete; authorize Mayor to release retainage. MOVED BY RANTS, SECONDED BY EKBERG, TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. MOVED BY MORIWAKI, SECONDED BY LAWRENCE, TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SARGENT ENGINEERS FOR THE CONSULTING OF THE BRIDGE EVALUATIONS PROJECT IN THE CITY OF TUKWILA. MOTION CARRIED. MOVED BY RANTS, SECONDED BY MORIWAKI, THAT THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION BE READ BY TITLE ONLY. MOTION CARRIED. Attorney Kenyon read A resolution of the City Council of the City of Tukwila, Washington, fixing the time for a public hearing for vacation of certain public right -of -way within the City of Tukwila generally described as a portion of So. 150th Street between Macadam Road and 500 feet east of Macadam Road. MOVED BY RANTS, SECONDED BY MORIWAKI, TO APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 1185 AS READ. MOTION CARRIED. Councilmember Hernandez reported she attended the Rabanco on June 14th. Comments on the EIS can be submitted until June 19th. Councilmember Moriwaki reported on a King County proposal of grants to communities to encourage commercial recycling. Monies would be distributed on the basis of population. Moriwaki also announced the annual Child and Family Resource and Referral meeting to be held from 7 -9 p.m. on June 19th at the Renton United Way Center across the street from Valley General Hospital. Councilmember Rants reported he has joined the citizen's committee for the school district on facilities as a liason between the school district and the Council. The state projection for the school district is expected to top 2,700 students. The committee is investigating the facilities needed for housing these students as well as the type of curriculum that will be offered. The report will not be completed until this fall. City Administrator John McFarland thanked the Mayor and Council for their support during the time he and other employees were on active duty.
