4: All construction shall be done in conformance with the approved plans and the requirements of the International
Building Code or International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, Washington State Energy Code.
5: All wood to remain in placed concrete shall be treated wood.
6: There shall be no occupancy of a building until final Inspection has been completed and approved by Tukwila building
Inspector. No exception.
7: All construction noise to be in compliance with Chapter 8.22 of the City of Tukwila Municipal Code. A copy can be
obtained at City Hall in the office of the City Clerk.
8: All electrical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the Washington State Department
of Labor and Industries (206/248- 6630).
9: VALIDITY OF PERMIT: The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of,
any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any other ordinances of the City of Tukwila. Permits
presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of the code or other ordinances of the City of Tukwila
shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the
Building Official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data.

This letter is in response to your written request for an extension to Permit No. D06 -025. The Building
Official has reviewed your letter and considered your request to extend the above referenced permit. The
City of Tukwila Building Division will be extending the expiration date of your permit for an additional
30 days from the current expiration date (through June 27, 2007).
If you have a valid electrical work permit through L&I, they will inspect that work. If you do not have a
valid permit (ie: it has expired) you will need to apply for a new one through the City of Tukwila Permit
Center. You will need to obtain a final electrical inspection prior to calling for the Building final. Per
the Building Official, this should be feasible to complete within the permit extension time period.

Building Official to the Tukwila Hearing Examiner when it is claimed that any one or
more of the following conditions exists:
1) The true intent of the code or ordinance has been incorrectly inter-
preted.
2) The provisions of the codes or ordinances do not fully apply.
3) The decision is unreasonable or arbitrary as it applies to
altematives or new materials.
Appeal procedures shall be in accordance with TMC Chapter 18.116.030.
g. Section 105.5 is amended as follows:
1) Expiration. Every permit issued by the Building Official under the
provisions of this code shall expire by limitation, and become null and void if the work
authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such
permit; or after the work is commenced, if the work is suspended or abandoned at any
time for a period of 180 days.
2) Extensions to permits. Any person holding an unexpired permit
may apply for an extension of the time within which work may commence under that
permit when the person is unable to commence work within the time required by this
section. The Building Official may extend the time for action for a period not to exceed
180 days, provided that the request is in writing and shows that circumstances beyond
the control of the permit holder have prevented action from being taken. No permit
shall be extended more than once.
3) Reneroals of expired permits. Before such work can be recommenced,
a new permit shall be first obtained. The permit fee therefore shall be one half the
amount required for a new permit for such work; provided that no changes have been
made or will be made in the original plans and specifications for such work, and
provided further that such suspension or abandonment has not exceeded one year. In
order to renew action on a permit after expiration of more than one year, the pertittee
shall pay a new full permit fee and plan review fee where applicable.
h. Section 113.4, "Violations and Penalties, is amended to include: Any
person, firm or corporation who shall willfully violate or fails to comply with a Notice
and Order is liable for the monetary penalties prescribed in TMC 8.45.100(A2).
2. The International Residential Code for One- and Two- Family Dwellings,
2006 Edition, published by the International Code Council, Inc., as adopted by the State
of Washington, provided that Chapters 11 and 25 through 42 of this code are not
adopted. Energy code provisions are superceded by Chapter 51 -11 WAC; plumbing
code provisions are superceded by Chapter 51-56 WAC; electrical code is the NEC,
NFPA 70 as adopted by the City of Tukwila. Appendix G, "Swimming Pools, Spas and
Hot Tubs," is included in the adoption of the International Residential Code. However,
where there is conflict between Appendix G and TMC Chapter 16.25, the more
restrictive provision shall apply, provided that the following amendment is applicable:
a. Expiration Every permit issued by the Building Official under the

have been delayed due to a serious back injury to my husband's back. We had planned on doing _14,, u a

I understand according to this letter, that we were supposed to schedule an inspection, however,
when I call the inspection line, it is not clear that which or if I need to do this, so I am sending
this letter to outline the remaining work left, how we intend to finish and the approximate time
line on the work.
Roof: We currently have a 3-tab shingle roof on the garage addition that doesn't have enough of
a pitch for it to meet code. We are currently collecting bids (we have received 2 already and are
awaiting 1 more) to decide which company will do the work. 1 estimate that we will be able to
get them to conclude the work on the roof in the next 4-6 weeks which is dependent on the
contractors work schedule.
Concrete Slab: We are currently interviewing contractors to pour the remaining 1/3 floor of the
slab floor of the garage (in fact, we spoke to one person this mooring). We expect this to be done
in the next 4-6 weeks also depending on the contractor's schedule.
Electrical: I have requested an inspection on the final electrical today from WA Department of
Labor and Industries. I had a final inspection done last year before my husband's back injury,
which a few things had to be fixed so we needed an additional inspection for. We were delayed
due to my husband's back injury and have since had someone do those final detail revisions done
for us. I have since heard that the city of Tukwila has attained their electrical division. Please
advise, if we need to follow other avenues to get this closed up.

additional periods not exceeding 90 days each. Extension requests must be in wrltini and provide satisfactory reasons why
circumstances beyond the applicants control have prevented action from being taken.

void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and associated fees.

To whom it may concern:
We would like to extend our permit (D06- 025)due to the delays in the approval with our
electrical permit, the roof having to be re-done, and the rest of the concrete slab poured.
We need to move the electrical conduits. As for the roof, we put a 3 -tab, but then were
told that it didn't have enough of a pitch for the 3 -tab. We plan to put a metal roof on.
Fortunately, all this work is mostly finish work that does not affect the look of the
project.
As soon as we get through the holidays, we will be able to concentrate some time on the
project again. We have been busy with some other commitments.
