Each required commercial kitchen exhaust hood and duct system required by section 610 of the International Fire Code to have a Type 1 hood shall be protected with an approved automatic fire- extinguishing system installed in accordance with this code. Building Division Review 0 Item 1 - Plans shows a 2 -inch pipe from the grease collection pan where the pipe shall be extended down to the floor sink below. Please identify the length of exposed pipe on the roof, type of pipe and provide a method of how the condition of the pipe shall be maintained. Pipe shall be protected to ensure the grease shall not build up in the pipe during cold conditions and where it shall be screened to prevent the intrusion from rodents or birds. No length of pipe is to be exposed on the roof. The drain line should penetrate the roof directly below the exhaust fan, see revised detail sheet M -1. Pipe material will be cast iron. The grease drain is located on the fan housing and will be direct piped from the unit. There is no open area that will require screening. Item 2 - Please provide a roof plan that identifies all mechanical equipment within the vicinity of the exhaust hoods including exterior building walls or components. Exhaust outlets shall be located not less than 10 feet horizontally form parts of the same or contiguous buildings, adjacent buildings, adjacent property lines and air intake openings into any building and shall be located not less than 10 feet above grade.
