Allowable load must be the lesser of he load based on concrete edge distance or s eel strength. 2. The allowable loads based on concre e edge distance are based on a safety factor of 4.0. 3. For short-term loading due to wind or seismic forces, the allowable load must be the lesser of the allowable load based on concrete edge distance increased by 331 percent, and the values listed in this table for allowable shear loads based on steel strength for ASTM A307 threaded rods increased by 331/2 percent. 4. Refer to allowable load adjustment factors for spacing and edge distance on pages 44 & 46. 5. Refer to In- Service Temperature Sensitivity chart for allowable load adjustment for temperature. 6. Anchors are permitted to be used within fire - resistive construction, provided the anchors resist wind or seismic loads only. For use in fire - resistive construction, the anchors can also be permitted to be used to resist gravity loads, provided special consideration has been given to fire exposure conditions. i7 * *See page 5 for an explanation of the load table icons 37 _ -_ . -_ ., . „ .... ,. „ ,. , . . Our corporation has been designing and installing dust collection systems since our inception in 1933. Rainier Industries has a small woodshop for fabricating wood parts that help support their Vinyl Sign and Tarp products. The shop has approximately 7 employees currently but also wants the dust collection system to support any future growth. We have designed the system to handle up to 12 employees. The following sections describe our design. Equipment Argo Blower has specified the use of a pulse cleaning type baghouse. This is the most current and proven type for wood dust. The collection equipment is made by Mac Equipment (see attached specifications). This collector uses polyester filter bags to remove the wood dust from the air stream. This model has 1062 square feet of filter media, which produces an air to filter cloth ratio of 7.94:1. This type of collector can run up to 9:1 air to cloth if needed. We specified a conservative ratio. The unit use compressed air to self clean the filters on a continuous basis. The facilities compressed air system will be connected to the collector and the control panel will pulse the filters every 10 to 15 seconds (one row of filters at a time). This type of cleaning system will maintain high vacuum efficiencies and prolong filter life. The collected wood dust will be deposited into a forklift tipping container for storage. A 30 horsepower blower will be mounted on top of the collector and will produce the air volume and vacuum required (actual requirement is 12 inches and this blower will produce 14 inches of static pressure). A discharge silencer will be connected to the blower to reduce ambient noise. A UL listed Control panel will be shipped from the Mac factory that is designed to operate this collector at optimum levels. Concrete Rainier Industries contracted their engineer to design the west loading dock platform (concrete) to handle the dust collector (weight, wind loads, etc). This info is contained in the Tukwila Permit Number 007 -434. The unit will sit outside on the north end of the loading dock (drawing M -1). The equipment will be anchored to the concrete according to the engineer's recommendation. ARGO BLOWER & MANUFACTURING COMPANY INC. Rainier Industries Ducting Argo Blower will design and fabricate the required fittings and duct to removed dust from the woodworking machinery and transport it to the dust collection equipment. The ducting will consist of galvanized steel duct and fittings located inside the building approximately 18 feet off the floor. All ducting will meet the UBC and Smacna standards for this type of system. The ducting is designed to maintain a minimum velocity of 4000 fpm which exceeds minimum standards for this type system. Please contact me with any questions or to discuss in more detail. Thank You, Tim Lewallen Project Manager Argo Blower & Manufacturing Co., Inc. 2 STATEMENT OF MECHANICAL DESIGN REVIEW DUST COLLECTION SYSTEM FOR RAINIER INDUSTRIES — TUKWILA FACILITY The undersigned has reviewed the mechanical aspects of the dust collection system for Rainier Industries, Tukwila, WA, Drawings M -1 & M -2 and finds them in accordance with standard practice for such facilities and the 2003 IMC, IBC, & IFC. SMACNA Standards were also applied concerning transport velocities and duct supports. Design of the Dust Collector Support Slab was completed by a Structural Engineer and is not covered under my Mechanical Review. EXPIRES ' CP Candice Snydar, P.E.
