SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
Installation and servicing of air conditioning equip-
ment can be hazardous due to system pressure and
electrical components. Only trained and qualified service
personnel should install, repair or service air condition-
ing equipment.
Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance
functions of cleaning coils and filters and replacing
filters. All other operations should be performed by
trained service personnel. When working on air condi-
tioning equipment, observe precautions in the literature,
tags and labels attached to the unit and other safety pre-
cautions that may apply.
Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and work
gloves. Use quenching cloth for unbrazing operations'
Have fire extinguisher available for all brazing operations.
L► WARNING
Before performing service or maintenance operations
on unit, turn off main power switch to unit. Electrical
shock could cause personal injury.
INSTALLATION
Unit is shipped in the vertical configuration. To convert
to horizontal configuration, remove side - supply duct
opening covers. Using the same screws, install covers
with insulation located outside the unit on vertical duct
openings. Seals around duct openings must be tight.
-- PORTANT: The gasketing of the unit to the roof
rb is critical for water integrity. Install gasketing
•pn terial with the roof curb as shown in Fig. 1.
properly applied gasketing can also result in air
leaks and poor unit performance.
C
show
funct
latio
b should be level. Unit leveling tolerances are
in Fig. 2. This is necessary for unit drain to
on properly. Refer to Accessory Roof Curb Instal-
Instructions for additional information as
d.
MOUNT (Horizontal Units Only) — Provide a
oncrete slab that extends a minimum of 6 in.
e ; unit cabinet. The slab should be 8 in. thick with
4n. above grade. Install a gravel apron in front of con-
denser air inlet to prevent grass and foliage from obstruct-
ing airflow.
NOTE: Horizontal units may be installed on a roof curb
if required.
Step 2 — Field Fabricate Ductwork — On
vertical discharge units secure all ducts to roof curb and
building structure. Do not connect ductwork to unit. All
units are shipped with flanges taped to indoor fan deck.
For horizontal applications, flanges should be attached
to side - supply openings and all ductwork should be
attached to the flanges. Insulate and weatherproof all
external ductwork, joints and roof openings with flashing
and mastic in accordance with applicable codes.
Ducts passing through an unconditioned space must be
insulated and covered with a vapor barrier.
If a plenum return is used on a vertical unit, the return
should be ducted through the roof deck to comply with
applicable fire codes.
A minimum clearance to combustibles is not required
around ductwork on vertical discharge units. On hori-
zontal discharge units, a minimum clearance of 1.0 in. is
required for the first 12 -in. of ductwork. Cabinet return
air static shall not exceed -.35 in. wg with economizer or
-.45 in. wg without economizer.
Step 3 — Internal Trap Condensate Drain —
Units have internally trapped condensate drains. The
condensate can be drained through the basepan, or
through the side panel. A drain plug is shipped installed
in the basepan drain connection and must be relocated
to the side panel drain connection before unit is placed
on the roof curb. The piping for the condensate can be
completed after the unit is in place. Unit discharge con-
nections do not determine the location of drain connec-
tions. Both side panel and basepan drains may be used
with either vertical or horizontal units.

IMPORTANT: The condensate pan is internally
trapped. An external trap is not required. If an
external trap is attached, water may leak into
building.
Step 4 — Rig and Place Unit — Inspect unit for
transportation damage. File any claim with transporta-
tion agency. Keep upright and do not drop. Spreader bars
are not required if top crating is left on unit. Rollers may
be used to move unit across a roof. Level by using unit
frame as a reference. See Table 1 and Fig. 3 for additional
information. Weight is shown in Table 1 and Fig. 3.
Lifting holes are provided in base rails as shown in
Fig. 4. Refer to rigging instructions on unit.
POSITIONING — Maintain clearance around and
above unit to provide proper airflow and service access.
See Fig. 4.
Do not install unit in an indoor location. Do not locate
unit air inlets near exhaust vents or other sources of
contaminated air.
Although unit is weatherproof, guard against water
from higher level runoff and overhangs.
After unit is in position, remove polyethylene shipping
wrapper and rigging skids.
Step 5 — Make Electrical Connections
A WARNING
iI
Unit cabinet must have an uninterrupted, unbroken
electrical ground to minimize the possibility of
personal injury if an electrical fault should occur.
This ground may consist of electrical wire connected
to unit ground lug in control compartment, or
conduit approved for electrical ground when in-
stalled in accordance with National Electrical Code
ANSI /NFPA 70 -1987 and local electrical codes.
Failure to follow this warning could result in the
installer being liable for personal injury of others.
PLACE ALL SEAL STRIP
IN PLACE BEFORE PLACING
UNIT ON ROOF CURB.
NOTES.
1 Dimension in parentheses is in millimeters
2 Hook rigging shackles through holes in base rail, as shown in
detail "A". Holes in base rails are centered around the unit
center of gravity Use wooden top skid, when rigging, to
prevent rigging straps from damaging unit.

FIELD POWER SUPPLY — All units except 208/230 -
volt units are factory wired for the voltage shown on the
nameplate. If the 208/ 230 -volt unit is to be connected to a
208 power supply, the transformer must be rewired by
moving the black wire from the 230 -volt orange wire on
the transformer and connecting it to the 200 -volt red
wire from the transformer. The orange wire must then be
insulated.
Refer to unit label diagram for additional information.
Pigtails are provided for field wire connections. Use
factory - supplied splices or UL- approved copper/
aluminum connector.
When installing units, provide a disconnect per NEC.
All field wiring must comply with National Electrical
Code and local requirements.
Install conduit connectors in side panel openings. For
units without electric heat, install conduit between dis-
connect and control box. Install power lines to terminal
connections as shown in Fig. 5. For units with electric
heat, refer to Table 2 to determine appropriate power
wiring figure (Fig. 6-10) and route power lines as indi-
cated in appropriate figure.
Voltage to compressor terminals during operation
must be within voltage range indicated on unit nameplate
(also see Table 2). On 3 -phase units, voltages between
phases must be balanced within 2% and the current within
10 %. Use the formula shown in Table 2, Note 2 to deter-
mine the % voltage imbalance. Operation on improper
line voltage or excessive phase imbalance constitutes
abuse and may cause damage to electrical components.
Such operation would invalidate any applicable
warranty.
When electric heat is installed, remove knockouts for
appropriate size conduit from unit block -off panel and
single point box. Install conduit (rigid or electro- metallic
tubing) through conduit drip boot as shown in Fig. 11.
Drip boot eliminates the need for water tight conduit
fittings at the single point box.

ELECTRIC HEATING CAPACITIES - 50HJ0004 -014
*Two heater packages required to provide kW indicated.
NOTES:
1. The rated heater voltage is 240 and 480 v. If power distribution voltage varies from rated heater voltage, heater kW will vary accordingly.
2. To determine heater kW at voltages other than those shown in table, use the following formula:
Heater kWnew = Heater kW rated x (unit power distribution voltage/rated heater voltage)
3. The minimum airflow for a 50HJ0005 with two (2) CRHEATER004A00 (21 kW) modules at 230 volts, is 350 cfrrVton (1400cfm).
4. Single point boxes contain a junction box, wiring and sub - fusing assembly as necessary to meet National Electric Cod and UL requirements. Single
point boxes CRSINGLE001A00, 008A00 and 011A00 are junction boxes only.
As an example:
For a 18 kW heater rated at 240 v with a power distribution voltage of 215 v
kWnew = 16 kw (215240)
kWnew = 12.8 INY (rating at 215 v). Single point boxes CRSINGLB)01A00, 008AOD and 011AO0 do not Include fuses and fuses are not required per the National Electric Code In these
single point bcoces since sub - fusing is not required below 60 amps.

Permit File No. M08 -100
City of Tu
Jim Haggerton, Mayor
Department of Community Development Jack Pace, Director
In reviewing our current records the above noted permit has not received a fmal inspection by the City of Tukwila Building Division.
Per the International Building Code and/or the International Mechanical Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the
provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not
commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or
abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days.
Based on the above, you are hereby advised to:
Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206 - 431 -2451 to schedule for the next or fmal inspection.
This inspection is intended to determine if substantial work has been accomplished since issuance of the permit or last inspection; or if
the project should be considered abandoned.
If such determination is made, the Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve one or more extensions of time for
additional periods not exceeding 90 days each. Extension requests must be in writing and provide satisfactory reasons why
circumstances beyond the applicants control have prevented action from being taken.
In the event you do not call for the above inspection and receive an extension prior to 02/07/2009 , your permit will become null and
void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and associated fees.
