These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #2051) 13: H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air- moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main return-air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. The new fan weighs approximately 700 pounds including the curb and casings. The existing roof consists of 2X decking that is supported by glue laminated beams at 6' on center. The beams span approximately 36' and are supported by 10 -3/4" X 24 glue laminated beams that span approximately 25' to 30'. The fan will be placed on the roof and attached to the decking with 1/4 inch diameter lag screws at 24" on center for each side of the curb with a minimum of 2 screw per face. The existing roof framing is structurally adequate to support the new fan unit. I have attached supporting structural calculations and a placement sketch for the new HVAC unit placed on the roof framing.
