McKinstry Co. SUBJECT: Providence Data Center Response for Mechanical Permit Comments DATE: June 18, 2008 Dave, Thank you for your review of these drawings. Our response to your comments are as follows: General: The drawing size has been reduced to 24x36 as requested. 1. Smoke detectors are being provided under the Sabey Data Center Central Plant permit. The sequence of operations noting the smoke detectors will be updated to indicate the return detectors and the function to stop the fan upon the activation of the detector by smoke. 2. The break/locker, mgr cubes, multi use cubes, small and large conference rooms and build room are permitted under a different contactor. 3. The detail for providing the fire damper is added, see drawing M4.0. 4. The one unit is all that is being provided by this permit application. The other air handlers noted and shown on the diagrams are part of a previous permit for, Sabey Data Center Central Plant. 5. There are air handling units permitted under a previous permit for Sabey Data Center Central Plant. These were noted for coordination purposes only. 6. Other equipment within 10' of the new outside air intake has been added to the drawing. Please call if you have any questions. (GENERAL NOTE) PLAN SUBMITTALS: (Min. size 11x17 to maximum size of 24x36; all sheets shall be the same size). (If applicable) Structural Drawings and structural calculations sheets shall be original signed wet stamped, not copied.) 1. On sheet MO.1 there are a couple references that mention duct smoke detectors to be installed in the supply plenums. The current code requires duct detection to be installed on the return side. Please show the location of detectors on enlarged HVAC plan M3.2.6. On sheet M7.0 the tables say that duct detection is not required. Please clarify and coordinate references on plans. 2. The plans do not show a ventilation system for the break/locker, Mgr cubes, Multi use cubes, small and large conference rooms and build room. How will minimum outside air requirements be met for these areas. 3. The plans show a large duct ( 150 x 76) penetrating the firewall along grid A.5 between grids 5 and 6. Please detail this penetration to show how firewall integrity will be maintained. 4. On the permit application you only show one air handling unit less than 10,000 cfm. Please add all new units to the total count and also add for each ventilation system (ductwork). 5. Unit designations are hard to figure out as there are several callouts that are not shown on the plans. I could not find RF -52A and B, AHU -52A3 and B2. Sheet MO.1 shows a detail plan view 3 on sheet MO.3 but this page was not included in plans. Where are these air handling units located? 6. Please provide a rooftop plan showing all existing and new equipment relative to this project and other equipment not relative to this project but within 10 feet of air intakes for this project.
