Valley, Tukwila, Washington HVAC Replacement You intend to replace an existing HVAC unit with a new unit that will sit on the same curb as the original. The original unit weighs 1,180 #. The new replacement unit weighs 1,100 #. The existing roof framing is structurally adequate to support the new, lighter weight HVAC unit. I have attached supporting structural calculations for the seismic loads on the unit. You should use your regular attachment of the curb to the roof framing of 1/4" diameter by 3" long lag screws at 18" on center, with a minimum of two per side.
