The unit connects to the frame at 6 points, per the manufacturer's specifications. Due to the geometry of the new dry- cooler unit, the existing frame shall be modified by adding W8x10s as shown in attached plan sketch SK -1 and connected at each location as noted in SK -1, per details SK -2 through SK -4. Our review of the proposed HVAC unit included analysis of gravity loads and possible seismic lateral loading, as determined per the International Building Code (2006 Edition) and the ASCE 7 -05 codes. We have determined that the roof and existing frame have sufficient capacity to support the new framing and loading demands imposed by the proposed unit. Attached are calculations verifying the capacity of the existing framing; • Two proposed 222 lbs. ea. pumps to be installed directly to existing 3` floor concrete deck near the intersection of grid 3 and C, along the back wall of the electrical room just east of the UPS room. The floor was upgraded to 150 PSF allowable load for the previous tenant — the loads imposed by the new pumps are well within this restriction. • One proposed 3,215 Ibs CRAC cooling unit (approximately 3' -0" x 9' -0" footprint) to be installed along the west wall of the data center suite on the 3 floor, roughly between grids 3 and 4 on the East side of grid C. The floor was upgraded to a 100 PSF allowable capacity for the previous tenant, the Toads imposed by the new CRAC unit are within the allowable load. We have completed an analysis of the loads imposed on both the third floor and roof framing and have found that there is sufficient capacity to support these proposed units, with the following provisos: 1. The modifications to the existing W8x10 support frame at the roof should be made as shown per sketches SK- 1 through SK -3. The new 8 -fan cooling unit should be installed at the location per sketch SK -1. 2. The two . new pumps in the electrical room should be installed to the floor per the manufacturer's specifications. Including the footprint area of the two pumps, the area within 1' -6" on all sides of the two pumps should be kept free and clear. Refer to attached sketches SK -4 through SK -6 for details. 3. The new CRAC unit in the data center suite should be installed per the manufacturer's specifications. As shown per sketches SK -5 & SK -6, a 5' -0" wide aisle in front (to the east) of the CRAC unit shall be free and clear at all times. A 5' -0" wide aisle on either side (north or south) of the CRAC unit shall be kept free and clear at all times. Refer to attached sketches SK -4 through SK -6. (Continued next page) 512 6th Street South, Suite 2021 Kirkland, Washington 98033 I P 425.827.59951 www.poggemeyer.com (Continued from previous page) 4. General note for 3rd floor loadings: the combined loading of the data /server racks and the CRAC unit in the data suite shall not exceed the 100 PSF limit for the floor. The load of the data - racks, in line with the CRAC unit, shall be decreased such that the combined toad (data -racks and CRAC unit) shall not exceed the 100 PSF average loading for the whole joist. This conclusion is only valid if the areas with the cabinets are controlled access, generally unoccupied and open with the exception of the cabinets themselves. The drycooler is on the roof near C.5 and 4. There is existing steel in that location that we are going to use. I have attached a picture looking west (screen wall behind me). The previous email showed the modifications we are proposing. The CRAC unit is on the 3rd floor north of the existing unit (CRAC-7) about 30'. Near grids C.25 and 3.75. We are also replacing the single pump in the mechanical room at B.75 and 2.5 with 2 new pumps. We can send over CAD files soon along with submittals that include weights. I will send you full roof plans when we have them drawn up, but this will hopefully get you started on your calculations. The sketch shows existing steel and new steel. One comment on the sketch: The short pieces of new steel shown at one end to support the back legs are optional for us. We could use gusset plates instead, or nothing if you don't think we need to use both bolt holes on those feet. Let me know if you have any questions or need more info. We would like to have calcs and drawings ready by the end of next week. Please confirm. Sincerely, c Bill Rambo Permit Technician xc: Permit File No. M08 -243 Ciz of Tukwila Jim Haggerton, Mayor Department of Community Development Jack Pace, Director In reviewing our current records the above noted permit has not received a fmal inspection by the City of Tukwila Building Division. Per the International Building Code and/or the International Mechanical Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days. Based on the above, you are hereby advised to: Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206 -431 -2451 to schedule for the next or fmal inspection. This inspection is intended to determine if substantial work has been accomplished since issuance of the permit or last inspection; or if the project should be considered abandoned. If such determination is made, the Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve one or more extensions of time for additional periods not exceeding 90 days each. Extension requests must be in writing and provide satisfactory reasons why circumstances beyond the applicants control have prevented action from being taken. In the event you do not call for the above inspection and receive an extension prior to 05/16/2009 , your permit will become null and void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and associated fees. 6300 Southcenter Boulevard, Suite #100 • Tukwila, Washington 98188 • Phone: 206 - 431 -3670 • Fax: 206 - 431 -3665 ACTIVITY NUMBER: M08-243 DATE: 11-19-08 PROJECT NAME: SABEY SDC B-3 SITE ADDRESS: 12201 TUKWILA INTERNATIONAL.
