The new HVAC unit is heavier than the existing unit. The new unit weighs approximately 514 pounds including the curb and casings. The existing roof consists of 2X decking that is supported by glue laminated beams at 5' on center. The beams span approximately 38' and are supported by larger glue laminated beams and columns. The unit will be placed on the sleepers atop the roof and attached to the decking with 1/4 inch diameter lag screws at 24" on center for each side of the curb with a minimum of 2 screws per face. The existing roof framing is structurally adequate to support the new fan unit. I have attached supporting structural calculations for the heavier HVAC unit placed on the roof framing.
