Mayor Van Dusen called the Special Meeting of the Tukwila City
Council to order and led the audience in the Pledge of
Allegiance.
MABEL J. HARRIS, JOE H. DUFFIE, EDGAR D. BAUCH, MARILYN G.
STOKNES (COUNCIL PRESIDENT), JOAN HERNANDEZ, DENNIS L. ROBERTSON,
CLARENCE B. MORIWAKI.
Res. #1211 Establishing
an Advisory Committee MOVED BY HERNANDEZ, SECONDED BY STOKNES, THAT THE PROPOSED
to Review Issues In a RESOLUTION BE READ BY TITLE ONLY. MOTION CARRIED.
Sensitive Areas Ord.
Mayor Van Dusen read a resolution of the City of Tukwila,
Washington, establishing an advisory committee for the purpose
of developing and reviewing technical issues related to the
implementation of a sensitive areas land use ordinance by title
only.
MOVED BY HARRIS, SECONDED BY HERNANDEZ, THAT RESOLUTION #1211
BE ADOPTED AS READ.
Councilmember Roberts proposed the Mayor and City Council President
approve the committee.
Mayor Van Dusen stated there is a policy for the Mayor to appoint
and the City Council approve all committee, boards and commissions.
The representative from the Planning Commission will be selected
by the Planning Commission and the City Council member will be
selected by the City Council. The City Council can reject
any selection. The staff is available to provide information but
not to sit on the committee as a voting member.
MOVED BY ROBERTSON, SECONDED BY MORIWAKI, TO AMEND THE RESOLUTION
SECTION 1 (A) BY ADDING "TO BE SELECTED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION:
SECTION 1 (B) BY ADDING "TO BE SELECTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL: SECTION
2 SHALL READ: "THE COMMITTEE SHALL BE TASKED WITH THE RESPONSIBILIT'
TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING ISSUES RELATED TO THE INSTITUTION OF
SENSITIVE AREAS ORDINANCE: THE APPEALS PROCESS; DEFINITION OF
VEGETATION BUFFERS FOR DIFFERENT USES; WETLANDS AND WATERCOURSES;
AND CONSIDERATIONS FOR SINGLE LOT /SINGLE FAMILY HOME EXCEPTIONS
TO THE ORDINANCE; SECTION 1 (E) SHALL BE DELETED.
Bill Arthur and Mae Harris volunteered to represent the Tukwila
residential citizenry.
Councilmember Robertson stated this resolution has been propos;
by Councilmember Hernandez.
MOTION CARRIED.
MOTION CARRIED, AS AMENDED.
MOVED BY HARRIS, SECONDED BY ROBERTSON THAT THE SPECIAL MEETING
AD 'URN. MOTION CARRIED.
