DESCRIPTION Alside Premium Vinyl Siding is manufactured from solid, rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compound, complying with the requirements of ASTM D 3679 -91a. The horizontal and vertical lap vinyl sidings are for use as an exterior finish. The minimum thickness of all siding and soffit styles is 0.035 inches (0.9 mm). Alside Premium Vinyl Siding is available in a variety of colors and wood -grain textures with matching inside and outside corner posts, trim, and moldings. A horizontal soffit in a matching color is also available. Soffit material is available in a vented design. Refer to Table 1 for siding /soffit characteristics and profiles for each siding /soffit style. 5. INSTALLATION 5.1 General All the siding styles are designed to be installed over solid sheathing (structural or non - structural) with furring being used on uneven walls or masonry surfaces. The siding is hung with aluminum or other corrosion resistant fasteners located in the middle of the siding's nail slot and shall not be drawn tight. The manufacturer's published installation instructions shall be strictly adhered to and copies available at all times on the jobsite during installation. 5.2 WInd Resistance Assemblies Alside Premium Vinyl Siding has an allowable negative wind loading of 30 psf (1436 Pa) when applied as follows: Nominal 2" x 4" (51 mm x 102 mm) wood studs on 16" (406 mm) centers is sheathed on the exterior with 1/2" (13mm) gypsum board using 2" (51 mm) drywall screws on 8" (203 mm) centers. A second exterior layer of 5/8" (1 6 mm) CDX plywood sheathing is applied using 8d coated "sinker" nails on 8' (203 mm) centers. The vinyl siding is then attached using 1 3/4 (44mm) aluminum ring nails every 16" (406 mm) on the vinyl nailing strip. 6. Please note that many building materials are "articles" and would not expose employees to health hazards under normal conditions of use. Alside Siding products, as well as Alside Vinyl Windows and Window Accessories, are articles and do not require Material Safety Data Sheets, as per the Code of Federal Regulations, 29CFR 1910.1200 (b)(6)(v) and defined in 29CFR 1910.1200 (c). Should you require any additional assistance, please contact me at 330/922 -2389. Sincerely, Nicholas D. Thompson, CSI Technical Service Representative Enc: Advisory Letter Circd. Federal Regulations 29CFR1910 TO OUR VALUED BUILDING PRODUCTS CUSTOMERS: Associated Materials Incorporated is committed to providing accurate health and safety information on the products that we manufacture or distribute. We have a program to continually review our products to determine which products require Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and to revise our Material Safety Data Sheets to provide the most current information available. Most products manufactured by Associated Materials Incorporated are "articles" and would not expose employees to health hazards under normal conditions of use or in a foreseeable emergency. We do not provide Material Safety Data Sheets for these "articles ". Other products are not "articles" and must have a Material Safety Data Sheet, according to regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). For all such items manufactured by Associated Materials Incorporated, a MSDS is prepared and provided to our distributors. When Associated Materials Incorporated distributes products made by others, we ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets, and updated information, are provided to other distributors and employers. As a retail distributor to commercial customers, we will provide a Material Safety Data Sheet upon request. We strive to improve the ways in which we communicate safety information and product safety information, so that it is clear and complete. Material Safety Data Sheets and safety information are under ongoing review and will be updated as needed. We appreciate your continued business and assure you that we will take the steps necessary to provide Material Safety Data Sheets where needed. NOTE: Material Safety Data Sheets, their need, and applicability are discussed in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 29, Part 1019, Subpart Z, Section 1910.1200. 29cfr1910.1200(b) (1) This section requires chemical manufacturers or importers to assess the hazards of chemicals which they produce or import, and all employers to provide information to their employees about the hazardous chemicals to which they are exposed, by means of a hazard communication program, labels and other forms of warning, material safety data sheets, and information and training. In addition, this section requires distributors to transmit the required information to employers. (Employers who do not produce or import chemicals need only focus on those parts of this rule that deal with establishing a workplace program and communicating information to their workers. Tukwila Building Division Ken Nelsen, Sr. Plan Examiner An initial architectural Building Division plan review has been conducted on the subject permit application. Please address the following comments with revised plans and /or other applicable documentation. 1. General Notes on the Engineering plan sheet prepared by Seizmic Material Handling Engineering, correctly references the design criteria using the 2003 IBC. However, note number 5 references anchor Ramset thruboft ICC evaluation report number ER -1372. The noted ER report was approved under the old UBC and is no longer applicable for the "no special inspection" also shown in note number 6. Provide an updated anchor bolt ER report to the required anchor application, or provide general notes requiring special inspection of the bolts. 2. The installation of the new rack storage layout requires that a new Egress Illumination path must be identified on the plans showing compliance with I.B.C. Section 1006. The intended egress path may be identified as a single illuminated route of travel between the required exterior exit access doors. Additionally, the performance of the required illumination system described in I.B.C. Section 1006.4 must be specified in the general notes or otherwise shown on the plans.
