Please review my responses below: • 1. The drain waste and vent (DWV) system for the new fixtures show venting through one vent to the roof. Reply: A single stack vent is allowed provided that the vent is adequately sized and the total vent cross-sectional area for all vents serving the building drain are at least equal to the required building drain size. In this case a 4" building drain is required, Total vent cross - sectional area must equal 12.56 square inches. A 2" pipe cross - section equals 3.14 square Inches. Four 2" vents will provide adequate area to serve a 4" building drain. In addition to all existing vents, four 2" vents are proposed for each building thereby meeting the cross - sectional requirements sans existing vents. (UPC Sections 904.0 and 906.3) Where stacks are more than two stories high, a separate stack shall be provided for the fixtures on the lower two stories. Reply :I cannot find such a requirement in the UPC, Please provide an exact code reference. The stock for the lower two stories may be connected to the branch of the building drain that serves the stack for the upper stories at a point at least 10 pipe diameters downstreom from the base of the upper stack, Reply: I cannot find such a requirement In the UPC. Per the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, Uniform Plumbing Code and /or the National Electric Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the provisions of these codes shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit has not begun within 180 days from the issuance date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work has begun for a period of 180 days. Based on the above, you are hereby advised to: 1) Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206 - 431 -2451 to schedule for the next or final inspection.
