Permits presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of the code or other ordinances of the City of Tukwila shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the Building Official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data. 10: ** *FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS * ** 11: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by the Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: 12: The total number of fire extinguishers required for an ordinary hazard occupancy with Class A fire hazards is calculated at one extinguisher for each 1,500 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be of the "All Purpose" (2A, 20B:C) dry chemical type. Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less. (IFC 906.3) (NFPA 10, 3 -2.1) 13: Portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. The City has determined that the multi- tenant strip building where the Vacant Space tenant improvement is proposed has deficiencies, on the domestic water service and landscape irrigation. a) Domestic Water Service A 3 -inch Reduced Pressure Principle Assembly (RPPA), previously called a Reduced Pressure Backflow Assembly (RPBA), was installed on the common water line upstream of existing water meters for this building. This RPPA device failed testing on May 20, 2009. Our Water Division has sent a repair letter to the Building Owner/Property Manager on May 28, 2009. A response to the repair letter that shows the device has passed testing is required. b) Landscape Irrigation An AMR upgrade to the existing irrigation deduct meter is required. The existing irrigation exempt water meter @ 1187 Andover Park West shall be upgraded with an AMR (compatible to SENSUS) upgrade to the existing irrigation deduct water meter. In order to connect the deduct meter to the permanent meter reading system, connect the two boxes using PVC conduit. The existing Irrigation Deduct is an (AVB) located below grade and will need to be replaced with a new (DCVA). A new staircase was recently constructed, which is now located just above the existing irrigation box, creating an access problem and needs to be relocated. c) Fire Prevention The fire backflow prevention device (DCDVA) is current. I have enclosed Public Works Development Bulletin C5 (design and installation requirements for cross connection control) and Bulletin A2 (permit fee estimate sheet), for your use and information. A separate letter was mailed to the building Owner, RREEF Corporation on July 8, 2009. The Director of Public Works will withhold issuance of this Tenant Improvement permit until the Permit Center receives plans for above items (a) and (b) for Public Works approval; or a bond for 150% of the design and installation cost of subject devices, together with a letter stating the installation by a certain date.
