After application of a high quality finish and careful inspection, all members are ".i- ` DIVISION the factory finish during shipping. It is important to remove the wrapping within of the shelter. This will minimize any damage from the protective wrap and packing tape. Please handle all members carefully to protect this finish. Failure to remove the wrap in a timely manner may result in damage to the finish. Because of their size and weight it is often impossible to handle structural members without causing some blemish or damage to the finished surfaces, either in shipment or on -site. Should members require touch up, matching paint is provided. The cost of such touch -up work shall be the contractor's responsibility. B. Members and connections have been pre- fabricated as shown on these drawings; however. all of the connections may not have been pre -fit. The erector should therefore, as indicated in the AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges, check for possible interferences due to warped members caused by welding during fabrication. Such minor misfits as those, which can be corrected by alignment with drift pins, are a normal expectation. Where shortages or other errors do occur. Litchfield Industries should be advised immediately so that they may determine the corrective action to be taken. No corrections or alterations are to be made to our products without permission. Back charges must be pre - approved before any product corrections are performed. C. All members must be properly braced until the complete structural system has been completed. This building has been designed as a freestanding, open structure. If walls are to be added, or lithe building is to adjoin another structure. or if any modifications are to be made, the structure must be re- engineered prior to these modifications. D. It shall be the responsibility of the customer to engage the services of a locally licensed soils engineer to design the footings based on the actual soil bearing capacity; water table level; and specific loading requirements (seismic, snow, wind, etc.) for the proposed site of the shelter. Pressure Treated Southern yellow pine 2x6(nom) lumber has been provided for use as "nailers" for installing the T &G wood deck. Nailers must be field cut to fit on the top all roof surfaces. 3" TEK screws are provided to anchor the nailers in place. Install TEK screws 12" on center on the nailers. STEP 2: T &G Decking. The T &G decking slats have decorative V- groove edges on one side. When installing the T &G, place each slat with its V- grooved side facing down so it can be viewed from inside the shelter. Lay the T &G slats running from eave edge up to the peak of the roof. Marking the center of each roof section on the top surface of the purlin nailers is helpful for T &G alignment. Start laying T &G in the middle of the roof section and work out toward the corners. Align the eave end of each T &G slat flush with the outer edge of the eave purlin. 16d nails have been provided for securing the T &G to the nailers (2 nails at each nailer intersection). Nail the T &G slats in place and cut the ends off as required. Save the cutoff drop pieces, they maybe used in the other roof sections. Refer to the T &G DECKING LAYOUT. STEP 3: Fascia. NOTE: 2x4(nom) PT southern yellow pine boards have been provided for use as fascia. Position the fascia boards at the ends of the T &G decking boards, with its top surface flush with the top surface of the T &G decking. Miter cut the ends of the fascia as required, and secure the fascia to the T &G (and nailers) using the provided 16 galvanized finish nails. STEP 4: Roofing Felt. Roll out, overlap, cut and anchor roofing felt per manufacturers instructions. Galvanized roofing nails have been provided. 3 Notes: METAL ROOF SET -UP INSTRUCTIONS 16' x 25' Steel Frame Barn Style Shelter WARNING This roof surface is extremely slippery! Do not attempt to step /stand /or walk on this roof Use all necessary precautionary safety measures during installation of this roof. • Roof panels are labeled the the bottom side of each panel. • Panel labels & placements are illustrated on the PANEL LAYOUTS. • Screw placement is illustrated on the SCREW SCHEDULE. • It is recommended that the panels be separated into groups, and placed in an area near to the section of roof where they will be installed (per the Panel Layout). • Each roof panel has ribs along its left and /or right sides. The outside edges of these ribs are not the same. One edge is shorter than the other. • When the metal roof panels are installed, the ribs on the edges of the panels will overlap. The rib with the "shorter edge" always goes on top of the rib with the "longer edge ". • There are two types of screws for fastening the metal roof panels: 1. 1'/2" Woodgrip Screws are used for fastening the panels to the T &G wood decking. They are to be inserted on the flat portion of the roof panels, not on the ribs. 2. 7/8" LAP/TEK Screws are used to connect the roof panels together (at the overlapped ribs), and to attach trim to the panel ribs. These screws do not penetrate the wood decking of the shelter. • DO NOT instal! any 1' /2" Woodgrip screws along the eave until step 8. • DO NOT install any 7/8" LAP/TEK screws along the eaves until step 9. • DO NOT install any 7/8" LAP/TEK screws along the hips until step 10. • 1)0 NOT install any 7/8" LAP /TEK screws at the roof peak until step I 1 4 METAL ROOF (Continued) STEP 1: Eave Trim. Approximately 400 square feet of porous concrete walkways will be constructed adjacent to the parking lot for pedestrian use and will extend to the northwest and southeast of the parking lot roughly parallel to 50 Place South. The ingress and egress driveways cross an existing swale that parallels 50 Place South. A 12" ductile iron pipe culvert will be installed in both driveways to allow existing runoff to continue through the swale. Most of the existing site runoff can be described as overland sheet flow towards the shallow swale which flows to southeasterly, parallel to 50 Place South. Minor portions of the project site sheet flow to the southwest, towards the Duwamish River. Stormwater flows from offsite, upstream areas are very minimal. Minor clearing and grading will be required to construct the improvements on this site. A temporary erosion control plan has been produced and if followed will substantially reduce the amount of silt runoff during construction activities. Temporary erosion control facilities to be utilized during construction consist of a rock pad construction 29015 Military Rd S., PMB #544, Federal Way, WA 98003 • (253) 852 -1164 • Fax (253) 859 -2065 \-C entrance, catch basin protection, silt fence and a sediment trap. Sediment trap sizing calculations are attached to this letter. After construction activities are complete, and the vegetated areas are established, the contractor will remove the erosion control facilities pending the City of Tukwila's approval. In the developed condition, most minor rainfall events will infiltrate through the porous asphalt and into the base materials. Some of the benefits from utilizing porous asphalt include the removal of fine particulates and soluble pollutants, attenuation of peak flows, reduction in the volume of runoff, reduction in soil erosion, and groundwater recharge. Stormwater runoff from larger storm events will eventually sheet flow off of the parking lot and driveways into a grassed swale between the parking lot and 50 Place South. Stormwater that does not infiltrate through the asphalt will sheet flow through a grassed filter strip prior to reaching the grassed swale, removing additional sediment and pollutants from the runoff. Stormwater detention and water quality facilities will not be constructed for this project. The City of Tukwila refers to the 1998 King County Surface Water Design Manual (KCSWDM) for stormwater guidelines and design. Based on the KCSWDM, if over 5,000 square feet of new or replaced impervious surfaces will be constructed, a drainage review would be required. The 2005 KCSWDM allows modeling of porous asphalt and porous concrete as 50% impervious and 50% grass. The site would be modeled as 4,000 square feet of impervious surfaces and 4,000 square feet of pervious surfaces, therefore the threshold of 5,000 square foot impervious area is not exceeded and a full drainage review is not required.
