Subject: Plan for Restriping Parking Lot, Plaza One
The attached drawing shows the latest proposed layout for parking at
the property Boeing Support Services is leasing at 14675 Interurban
Avenue. This layout shows changes in sizes and quantities of
parking stalls based on the comments and corrections covered in
your review.
This plan provides the maximum number of parking stalls that we
can arrange on the available property and existing paved area being
leased to us in full, starting early next year. As discussed earlier with
you and others in the planning department, our intention is to
arrange the full size stalls in the number required by building code
along the outer perimeter of the parking area, and then increase the
numbers of compact stalls elsewhere to a maximum. This will
increase the lot capacity and accommodate today's ratio of compact
to full -size vehicles which we observe to be 50% or more compact
size.
The 8' -6" width for full size stalls will be retained as advised by your
department since we have 25 foot aisles. All other dimensions and
amenities stay the same as existing when the parking reverts to
100% use by Boeing as tenant. We expect this new arrangement
will alleviate many of the problems we have today, especially the
frequent blocking of fire lanes by some tenants.

REVISED PARKING LOT LAYOUT FOR PLAZA I (7 -30)
14675 Interurban Ave. South, Tukwila
The existing parking on this property has 226 stalls
including two (2) handicapped, with the majority configured
for full -size vehicles (8' -6" width). At present there are
several tenants besides BE &C Engineers, with some stalls
marked for designated tenants. Plans are underway for
Boeing (BSS) to take over a lease for full custody of the
building next year. At the same time, we have been
experiencing parking problems at times, with the congestion
leading to parking along curbs in fire lanes, double
parking, etc. In negotiations with the owner, we have been
unable to secure extra parking on adjacent properties, or to
expand the existing paved lot. However, we have taken
several informal surveys of Boeing employee vehicles, and
find that compacts and sub- compacts outnumber the full -size
by ratio of 2 or 3 to 1. We have also checked the layout
against other Boeing parking areas where we can now
accommodate compact stalls at 7' -6" widths for up to 70% or
80% of total without problems. In rearranging the lot to
gain at least 20 more spaces with no special designations
except for handicapped, and with all parking limited to BE &C
Engineers; we feel that we can eliminate the potential for
parking in fire lanes and other violations of the Boeing
Fire Marshall standards. Confining the "full- size" stalls
to the exterior of the lot should encourage the drivers of
compact vehicles to utilize smaller stalls adjacent to the
building exclusively. The tentative plan we have sketched
has 61 to 76 full -size stalls 8' -6" to 9' -0" wide (counting
some existing), two handicapped stalls, and 174 reconfigured
full - length spaces in widths from 7' -7" to 8' -2 ", for a
total of 252. These 26 additional stalls should provide
enough legitimate parking spaces for our maximum building
use, including the frequent large conference meetings.
