Vernon Umetsu, Associate Planner, explained that
Planning has been reviewing the P.M.U.D. (Planned Mixed Unit
Development) Chapter in the Tukwila Municipal Code. This
section applies only to Commercial Zones. At this time the
requirements are limited to allowing multi family in
Commercial Zones to duplex structures only. Staff wants
Council to review this to be sure it reflects their intent.
MOVED BY BAUCH, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, TO PLACE THIS ITEM IN
THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE. MOTION CARRIED.
Attorney Colgrove reported that the agreement has
been signed to repair the rockeries along 57th Ave. So.
Council President Stoknes reminded Council that
there will be a tour of the Cascade View area on
Monday to familiarize the members of Council with the
proposed annexation area and some of the problems that might
arise. The proposed zoning on this area will go to the
Planning Commission on September 21 and then it will come
back to Council along with the Cascade area wide annexation.
Both the zoning ordinance and the annexation ordinance would
be passed at the same time.
Mayor Van Dusen asked Council if they would like to consider
another method for animal control. At one time Council
considered contracting with the City of Renton, but decided
not to because of the cost. Our contract with King County
is not costing at the present time. They get the money from
the sale of the animal licenses. He suggested that Council
have staff from the City of Renton present to discuss the
possibility of contracting with them. It was decided that
staff from the City of Renton would be invited to a Finance
and Safety Committee Meeting.
