ATTEST:
A FORMAL MOTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA STATING THEIR INTENT '10 VACATE A PORTION OF
53RD AVENUE SOUTH ADJACENT TO INTERSTATE FIVE AT SUCH
TIME AS CERTAIN ACTIONS ARE COMPLIED WITH.
WHEREAS, Mr. Watkins has made proper application for a street
vacation and,
WHEREAS, proper public hearings have been held as required by
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA DO
STATE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City of Tukwila intends to pass an
ordinance vacating that portion of 53rd Avenue South as
applied for at such time as the applicant has submitted
the following information to the City Clerk's Office:
A. Property Tax Statements on the two adjacent
properties from the King County Assessor's Office
showing square footage of each parcel and present
assessed valuation.
B. An affidavit that he is the owner of the abutting
property to the piece being vacated. This must be
notarized by a Notary Public.
C. The value of the property is to be determined by
the average value of the two adjacent properties and
one half that figure estimated. A cashier's check in
this amount is to be submitted to the City Clerk's Office.
Section 2. As soon as the City Clerk receives the above items
and verifies their adequacy, she will place the ordinance again
before the City Council.

The first meeting of the Tukwila City Council held in the new building w
opened by Reverend Walter Henderson, Burien Evangelical Church, who read
from the scripture and lead the audience in prayer.
Mayor Bauch, presiding, led the Pledge of Allegiance and called the
Regular Meeting of the Tukwila City Council to order

Mayor Bauch explained that the portion of street requested for vacation
by Mr. Arthur'D. Watkins, (2821 S. Walden, Seattle, WA 98144) lies
at approximately South 149th Street and Macadam Road. The property is
adjacent to 1 -5 and does not have access from a public road.
Mayor Bauch declared the Public Hearing open. There being no comment
for or against the street vacation the Public Hearing was closed.
Mayor Bauch recommended that this item be referred to the Public
Works Committee so a policy can be set as to the course of action to
be followed. The R.C.W. provides Cities the right to receive com-
pensation for vacated property up to one -half the appraised value.

PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE.*
Mrs. Joanne Davis, audience, suggested that when this is brought back
to Council a map be made available to the citizens.
Attorney Hard reported that he has met with the Attorneys of the proper
owners and they have requested that this matter be continued one more
week. He asked Council to hold an Executive Session at the end of the
meeting to discuss the terms that were talked about.

TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING AND THAT AN EXECUTIVE SESSION

WHEREAS, in accordance with R.C.W. 35.79.010, the legislative
authority by resolution shall fix a time when the petition will be heard.

This requested street vacation request has been reviewed by this office at an earlier date.
The right -of -way lies west of 53rd Ave. So., adjacent to I -5 and does not have access to it
from a public road or way.
The Office of Community Development sees no reason for the City to keep this property. I
reccommend it to be placed in the committee of the whole for policy development regarding
procedures processing during the next committee of the whole meeting.
