Dear Mr. Sides:
Thank you for your cooperation.
We have received copies of the plot plan and floor layout for the Abbott
Laboratories facility located in Tukwila and have performed an initial
review of the proposed location of and screening for the trash compactor.
Though the new concrete slab is exempt, the City of Tukwila does require
that a building permit be obtained for the construction of an 8' high
fence. Three copies of plans showing location, construction, and materials
specifications will be required for review by the Building and Planning
Departments. This letter is intended to assist you in meeting the zoning
requirements of Tukwila.
The Planning Department requests that the type of opaque strips to be used
in conjunction with the chain link fencing be specified in the plans; we
will require that such strips be of redwood or higher quality wood, and
that provisions be made for decorative planting against the screen. We
also will require the fencing to,be continued in order to screen the area
from view from the neighboring property to the east of the Abbott site.
The City of Tukwila has adopted a noise control ordinance that is intended
to promote the quality of the city environment. In order to assure that
the standards of this ordinance are complied with, it. is necessary that we
be provided with specifications regarding the compactor unit you are pro-
posing for your facility.
A review of the plot plan indicates the location you are proposing for
the new equipment will allow adequate room for the maneuvering of trucks.
If we are supplied with the requested specifications at the time application
is made for a building permit, it will greatly facilitate the review process,
and your request probably can be accommodated at the departmental level.
